Suddenly, she thought of Beatrice, then she asked, "How is Beatrice doing now?"

Jared sighed regretfully, "She can't accept her return to her original state, she's practically delirious.

She's at St. Mary's Psychiatric Hospital."

Agnes was surprised, "That's a mental health clinic."

Indeed, St. Mary's was widely acknowledged as an asylum.

Jared added, "In this world, you reap what you sow. She's done so many bad things; she nearly killed

you, her own sister. This is a fitting end."

But it was still a sad outcome. Agnes wasn't soft-hearted, nor did she pity Beatrice because she was

her sister. She just felt an overwhelming sense of sorrow.

Their father's longstanding wish was for them to live in harmony, but since childhood, they were like two

trees in the desert, fighting for resources until death.

Jared could see Agnes' sadness.

He gave her shoulders a comforting rub, "Don't dwell on it. I want to take you to meet someone this

afternoon."

Agnes looked up, "Who?"

Jared, playing coy, responded, "It's a secret."

Agnes' curiosity was piqued, and she slowly started to forget her troubles. Despite her probing, Jared

kept mum about their rendezvous.

In the evening, Jared took Agnes to a Thai restaurant.

He had booked a small private dining room. The décor and murals were exotic and captivating, but

Agnes was preoccupied. She kept pressing Jared about the secret guest. But Jared remained silent.

After a while, the door to the private room finally opened.

Agnes was speechless at the sight of the two people at the door.

They too seemed surprised. When Jared had invited them, he merely mentioned bringing a friend for

dinner, and they had assumed it was Sharon, but they hadn't expected...Agnes.

"Ivan, Mamie," Agnes greeted them. She hadn't expected to run into Mamie and Ivan in the Capital.

Ivan approached with a warm smile. He hugged Agnes, "Agnes, it's been so long. How have you

been?"

Ivan's voice was deep and comforting, like an older brother's.

In the past, Ivan had taken care of Agnes like a big brother, even going so far as to buy Starlight

International Group at a high cost out of goodwill.

Over the years, she had restored Starlight International Group to its former glory.

Agnes was deeply grateful to Ivan for every gesture, every deed. Hearing his voice again after four

years, Agnes felt a lump in her throat.

Jared chimed in, "Are you two done hugging? A little hug is fine."

Ivan let go of Agnes, laughing, "Jared, don't be so jealous."

Agnes turned to Mamie, "Mamie, aren't you going to hug me?"

Mamie looked upset, "Agnes, you disappeared for four years. We were worried about you all this time,

unable to find any trace of you. Did you think I would forgive you just because you suddenly

appeared?" As she spoke, tears welled up in Mamie's eyes.
