Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared)

Chapter 748

Chapter 748

Agnes couldn't help but find the whole situation both frustrating and hilarious.

Was Jared being serious? In this setting, in this moment, was he really proposing?

"Jared," Agnes started, "this isn't how you propose. You don't have a ring, there's no music, you're not

down on one knee like in the movies. I can't accept this proposal."

"Wait a moment," Jared responded, then he swung the car door open and stepped out.

Agnes had no idea what he was planning.

Soon enough, Jared returned, holding a ring made from an unknown type of wildflower. He adjusted

the car seat, switching on the radio.

Down on one knee, he said, "Ms. Pritchard, I now have a ring, I've got the music, and I'm down on one

knee just like in the movies. Will you marry me now?"

Agnes was so amused she laughed. Jared had made a ring out of wildflowers and grass, and it was

actually quite beautiful.

"I never knew you had such a skill," Agnes commented.

"Be serious, Ms. Pritchard, I'm proposing to you."

Serious? The music playing in the car was a sad breakup song.

Jared was anxious, blaming his friend Leo for the inappropriate song choice.

Turning off the music, Jared said, "I've locked the car doors. Neither of us is leaving until you agree to

marry me."

"Mom, just say yes." Their son, Nocturne, couldn't stand it any longer. "You have a child together, what

are you going to do?"

Jared gave Nocturne a thumbs-up.

Agnes was surprised, "Why are you still awake?"

Yawning, Nocturne said, "I was about to fall asleep, but then the sudden stop woke me up."

Jared urged, "Your son has spoken, just say yes to me."

In the end, Agnes felt helpless and extended her right hand.

Jared slipped the floral ring onto Agnes' ring finger. Then he announced, "Great, congratulations to Mr.

Whitfield on a successful proposal. The groom may now kiss the bride." This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.

Standing up, he leaned over to kiss Agnes.

Agnes pushed him away, "What are you doing? Nocturne is still here."

Nocturne obediently lay down and closed his eyes, "Mom, don't worry, I'm really going to sleep this

time."

Taking advantage of Agnes' distraction, Jared lightly kissed her lips. Then, satisfied, he returned to the

driver's seat and started the car.

Agnes was torn between laughter and tears. When had this man become so childish? However, looking

at the ring on her finger, Agnes felt a warmth in her heart. No expensive jewel could compare.

Yet, she still sighed deliberately.

"I regret that you didn't propose when we got married, and now I've married you so simply," Agnes said.

Smiling, Jared reassured, "Don't worry. This is just a rehearsal. In the future, I will give you an

unforgettable proposal and a grand wedding."

Hearing this, Agnes was apprehensive, "Enough, Jared. No more fuss. I've agreed to be with you. We

don't need a proposal or a wedding. Let's keep a low profile. I don't want the media disturbing our

peace.."

Jared raised an eyebrow, "That won't do. I need to make things official. Otherwise, others will still covet

you."

Eventually, after much coaxing, Jared agreed to keep their relationship private for now.

Agnes knew that Jared preferred to keep his personal life low-profile and didn't enjoy public attention.

He was just too insecure.

Agnes took Jared's hand, looking at him earnestly, "I've decided. I'm going to quit my job in Manhattan.

Let's live together, start over."

Jared's body stiffened noticeably.

They drove in silence for a while. Just as they were nearing home, Jared finally spoke, "Agnes, thank

you."
