Her Precious Baby

Chapter 296

Chapter 296

His solemn demeanor, coupled with the frosty atmosphere surrounding him, made approaching him impossible.

Olivine frowned. She knew what Evander was thinking, and dissatisfaction flashed across her eyes.

Just when she thought Evander was not going to speak, his mild voice sounded.

“Mm.” He then turned around indifferently.

It only took a second for Olivine to retract all traces of suspicion from her expression.

She poured a cup of coffee, stood up from the couch, and limped toward Evander.

“Floretta is only a little girl, Evander. and shouldn't be blamed for being a little reckless. You shouldn't have been that stem with her,” she said with a benevolent smile.

Evander wore a scowl as if her trick did not work on him. He studied her expression carefully.

Olivine began to feel guilty about the way he was scrutinizing her. “Is there a stain on my face. Evander? Don't look at me like that. Here, have some coffee.”

“There's no one else here. Olivine. You can drop your act,” Evander sneered. With his domineering aura, he looked as if he had become another person.

Olivine's hand holding the coffee cup shivered slightly, and a look of hurt appeared on her face.

“What are you talking about, Evander? I don't—■”

“You can feign ignorance all you want and remain one of Grandma's pawns, but please stay away from my daughter and refrain from using her to gain my favor, or I will have Mandel kicked out of Golding Group in Hubert's place.”

Evander sounded cold. His hawk-like eyes were filled with warnings. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

Olivine shuddered violently at his threat. Her gaze at Evander was flooded with tenor.

Does he know everything?

Indeed. Mandel Sherrock was her elder brother and the current CEO of Sherrock Group.

Having taken advantage of her engagement with the Golding family, he had derived huge savings from Golding Group.

Not long before, Evander. in an attempt to avenge Floretta. had begun investigating Mandel though his efforts were in vain. In a fit of rage. Mandel began colluding with Hubert.

Despite Olivine's reservation about the overly risky maneuver and repeated reminders not to go through with it, he was not dissuaded, so the best she could do was to help him conceal it.

However, Evander was so terrifying that nothing could be kept hidden from him.

“I don't understand what you're on about, Evander. I have no idea what my brother is up to. Have you misunderstood something?” Olivine grabbed his arm, and tears of panic began to flow down her cheeks.

Evander would not give her the opportunity to explain herself. He flung her aim aside and strode out of the room.

Gazing at his departing silhouette disappearing from sight, Olivine parted her lips but did not dare call out to him.

Deathly pale, she collapsed lifelessly onto the couch, her fingers gripping the cushion.

How did this happen? Since Evander has already found out that the Sherrock family is colluding with Hubert behind liis back, why would he still openly aimounce the date of our marriage? Knowing Evander, there's no way he would engage in an exchange against his interests.

Olivine did not dare think about it any longer, but a myriad of worst-case scenarios came tumbling one after another into her mind in an instant, sending chills up her spine.

Initially convinced that she had managed to gain control of every aspect of the game through her tricks, she realized now that she was merely a pawn of Evander.

“Ms. Sorelle has already left the Golding residence with Sebastian. Mr. Golding. Floretta has just eaten and gone to sleep after taking her medicine,” Francesca reported to Evander, who was seated on the couch in the living room.

Evander massaged his temples with his slim fingers. The fatigue in his eyes was plain to see.

“Thank you. Floretta must have thrown a tantrum.”

“Not at all, Mi; Golding,” Francesca said comfortingly while waving her hand. “Before Ms. Sorelle left, she told Floretta something, and it made her much more accommodating. She didn't ciy or throw a tantrum this time.”

Evander's brows furrowed. Surprise flashed across liis eyes.

“Floretta only listens to her.”

“That's right. Ms. Sorelle is genuinely good to Floretta.”

Francesca surreptitiously studied Evander's reaction and saw worry creasing liis features. He was obviously worried about Floretta.

I wonder why he said those hurtful tilings to Floretta in the bedroom.

“Lunch is being heated up, Mr. Golding. Would you like some?”

“Sure,” Evander answered and rose to exit the living room.

Francesca had prepared liis lunch. She only had to take it out from the thermal container, so it was served very quickly.

It was a typical meal in their household, plus a plate of cake of liis creation, which shape he could not discern.

Evander picked up the spoon and tasted the pork stew first. The richness of the broth tingled liis tastebuds.

He recognized it at once. Angeline must have made it.

Evander's expression softened. Before he realized it, he had emptied every plate before him.

Even Francesca was stunned. After an internal debate, she began gingerly. “Ms. Sorelle has suffered quite a lot today. Mr. Golding.”

Evander's face clouded over. He lowered liis fork, clasped liis hands tightly before him, and placed them on liis thighs.

Of course, I could tell that Angeline has suffered. I wish I were just Evander, but I am also the CEO of Golding Group, and many decisions are not mine to make. Wait for me, Angeline. I'll apologize and make it up to you when the time conies, and we'll have a giand wedding that will shake the entire entertainment industry. I'll officially make you Mis. Golding.

Since her return from the Golding residence, Angeline had shut herself off in a shell.

Her days revolved around the office, home, and factory. Aside from delegating tasks to her employees, she interacted with no one else.

However, the fruits of labor proved the sweetest.

In preparation for the exhibition, Angeline's inclusion of Joel in every fashion show and competition allowed them to secure many connections. Her goal was to hasten Forrester Group's visibility in the public eye.

In contrast, Forrester Group's chief designer was locked in her office and forced to study the drafts for the sake of the competition. She was livid at Joel's smooth progress.

As the date of the exhibition loomed closer, the chief designer began panicking. In turn, a list of vicious ideas came to her.

Angeline, on the other hand, remained busy. She was processing some documents in her office one day when she suddenly received a call from Jonathan.

“I have made contact with the director of the orphanage who rescued Sebastian. Angeline. You can go there soon.”
