Chapter 91~ Which husband?
Lora had been unable to work after receiving flowers from one Ryan Kingsley.
It didn't help that the fragrance of the roses kept spreading through her office, a reminder of Ryan's odd actions.
It was shocking.
Ryan? Sending flowers?
He wasn't one to do that.
As a handsome, rich man, Ryan wasn't the type to grovel at anyone's feet. He took what he wanted, when he wanted. So, Lora was caught off guard when he surprised her with red roses of premium quality. Could he have hit his head when he saved her last time?
Lora was deep in her thoughts when she received a call from Aiden Davis.
"Hello, kiddo. I'll be leaving for a few weeks, wanna come out for lunch? My treat," Aiden said on the phone.
Lora's eyes lit up. Perhaps her favorite uncle would help to keep her mind off a certain someone.
She quickly got to her feet and left the office but she didn't expect to run into Lewis Hendrix.
The man looked like a dangerous thug. His eyes were cold and full of hatred for Lora as he glared at her.
"Can I help you?" Lora asked, arching an eyebrow.
Although she wasn't scared of the man, her heart couldn't help but race at the murderous intent that was flashing through his eyes.
After the kidnapping incident, she had gotten leave to get over her shock and took the opportunity to nurse Ryan back to health. During that time, Lewis ran things at the company since he was already familiar with it.
Lora was about to thank him when he spat at her. "I hate people like you who want to reap where they did not sow. You don't need to work hard to have something as it's easily delivered to you on a silver platter. Why didn't you stay out of company affairs and leave them to men who could handle it? You're better off being Ryan Kingsley's little bitch."
Lora furrowed her eyebrows and clenched her hands into fists. She knew Lewis was behind the shipment loss the last time but she let the incident go for the sake of the work he contributed to the company.
How dare he disrespect her in her own company?
She didn't have time to argue with a crazy person. However, Lewis seemed to be out of his mind that day as he continued to berate Lora.
"You don't deserve that position. I'll do whatever it takes to drag you down- Argh!"
Before Lora could tell what was happening, Lewis' words were cut off by a hard punch to his face, tilting his head to the side.
Her eyes widened when she saw Ryan glaring at Lewis, his warning words lingering in her mind.
"Stay away from my woman. She's your boss, not your friend," Ryan hissed and Lewis quickly walked away.
A whistle brought Lora back to the present just as Diane came into view.
"Oh my... my big brother is going all out this time. Didn't he look hot when he did that, Lora?" She remarked and Lora blushed.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Glancing at Ryan, she said, "You didn't have to do that. I can take care of myself and if he tries anything, I have a lot of bodyguards." Ryan gave a small smirk before replying, "I know but I can't leave my woman's protection in the hands of other men."
Lora's heart did a somersault.
He said it again... his woman. Why was that so hot?
Lora couldn't help the butterflies that fluttered in her stomach. She was a strong, independent woman but it certainly felt good when someone had your back.
"Are you going somewhere? I came to see you and treat you to lunch," Diane offered, a warm smile on her face. "We haven't talked since I found out you're Larisa." Lora bit her lower lip, feeling bad for lying to Diane.
She replied, "I'm going for lunch but you can join me."
"Great!" Diane exclaimed. She glanced at Ryan and added, "My brother has to take his medication so I asked him to join us for lunch before he does. You know how he is... he might not take his meds if we don't monitor him."
Lora frowned at Ryan. Did he still have the habit of not taking medication? What was he? Five?
Even Ethan and Ella were obedient and mindful of their health.
"Mr Kingsley, didn't know you hate
yourself so much. Not only have you gone back to work when your
ep
injuries are not healed, but you. also don't religiously take your medication. Do you have a death wish?" Lora scolded.
Ryan let out a low chuckle before he remarked, "I didn't know nagging would sound like a beautiful song to my ears. I've heard you, my wife... I'll eat and take the meds." "You-" Lora blushed profusely. What part of what she said sounded like nagging?
When they arrived at the restaurant, Ryan looked at Lora and asked, "Did the flowers make you smile?"
"Are you the one that sent them? There was no name, so I threw them in the trash," Lora responded, causing Ryan's eyebrows to crease.
"It was clearly written on the card. The flowers were from your husband," Ryan said.
"Which husband?" Lora asked, blinking her eyes innocently.
"How many husbands do you have?" Ryan asked. "I'm your only husband under the eyes of the law."
Lora rolled her eyes. "You make it sound like it's an achievement."
"It is," Ryan's voice was low and
seductive when he responded. "Igust didn't know it at that time but now I know, marrying you was the best thing that ever happened to me."
Lora was about to reply when Diane suddenly gasped. She exclaimed, "What is he doing here?!"
They all turned to see a casually dressed man heading their way. His simple outfit made him look more handsome and alluring.
When he approached them, his captivating hazel eyes fell on Diane and a smirk crossed his lips as he said, "Hello, neighbour. Long time, no see."
