One night mistake
It was a one-night mistake. Jenica woke up in Alex’s bed, unsure of what to think as she gazed at her husband’s sleeping face. For all those years living with the ‘dying’ him, Jenica was well cared for. Actually, Alex treated her well, except in situations involving his family.
Jenica knew his family was a bunch of greedy dogs, always after their master’s crumbs, which was why Alex had to marry her to secure his wealth from those dogs. So, in the years she stayed with him, her husband never really mistreated her.
There were times, especially when the matriarch visited the mansion, that Alex would lock her in their bedroom to hide her from the Fuegos. Except for that foolish Robert who caught her once, none of the Fuegos knew Alex was married.
The matriarch was worried Alex would die without leaving an heir, so she played cupid several times, pairing Alex with women related to her business partners. Jenica was young back then, and it was easy for her to get jealous, especially since her husband almost ended up in other women’s beds several times.
So she harbored hatred for that old woman living peacefully in the Fuego mansion. The night she fled from Alex’s house was the night of her husband’s last treatment. Earlier that evening, the matriarch sent a woman to Alex’s house under the guise of ‘gentle support,’ but it was a trap to lure Alex under another woman’s skirt.
Except it was Jenica who saw the naked woman lying on their matrimonial bed. Thinking back, Jenica squinted her eyes. She didn’t see the woman’s face clearly because she was consumed by anger and jealousy. When she saw the naked woman in their bed, she immediately charged at her.
But before she could reach the woman, two bodyguards suddenly appeared and dragged her out of the room. She received several kicks and punches, and if she hadn’t protected her stomach, she would have miscarried that night.
The woman might have thought Jenica was just a lowly maid in Alex’s house, so after beating her up, the bodyguards left without a trace.
Only now did Jenica realize that the woman she saw that night resembled Gia Antonete. She thought the bodyguards were sent by the Fuego matriarch, but considering the mysterious Antonete Enterprise behind that hateful woman, things seemed more complicated.
This might be why her husband still hung out with that Antonete-to investigate what happened five years ago.
Jenica sneered.
But even after finding the truth, so what? It’s been years, and she could never forget the things she experienced at the hands of those bodyguards.
So she planned to attend the old woman’s birthday party to give her a special surprise.
And Alex wouldn’t expect it at all.Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“What are you doing here?” she asked, crossing her arms. She saw Jared lounging comfortably in the living room. It seemed like he was treating himself as the master of the house, and Jenica wasn’t happy about it. If not for the fact that she still needed this jerk to find her other son, she would not hesitate to send this hateful man six feet below the ground. The HQ has been pressing on her to lure Jared out but never would in their wildest dream that she, Agent J, has uncovered where Jared is staying in the country. It’s just that she had no intention of revealing this jerk’s whereabouts until she secured her two sons.
“Ayo, Agent J, aren’t you happy to see me? The HQ’s been working hard to find me.” Jared smirked. “Now that I’m here, why won’t you let me see your satisfied smile, huh?”
Jenica squinted her eyes. With Jared’s posture, she knew he wasn’t taking her seriously, which made her raise a brow. What’s with that stupid smile?
She didn’t let her guard down.
“What are you doing here?” she repeated, her voice cold.
Jared stared at her and eventually laughed out loud. In an instant, he was standing in front of her. A sudden movement from the left made Jenica move back immediately. Her gaze sharpened as she watched Jared slowly lower his hand, which he had intended to hit her with. Of all the agents in the HQ, only a few could make her step back. It was her first time facing Jared, and she was careful not to let herself be at the mercy of this man, or else her reputation as the number one agent would surely crumble.
She glared at him, but Jared just grinned from ear to ear. “As expected of you, Agent J. No one has surpassed your fast reflexes, not even my apprentice!” Jared said.
Jenica’s eyes narrowed, and she attacked quickly. But no matter how fast she moved, he dodged every blow. She stopped chasing him and stood ten meters away from the bastard. Luckily, Alex’s living room was spacious. It wasn’t difficult to move, but broken glass and the overturned sofa Jared had been sitting on earlier had littered the floor.
The servants were gone, and Jenica saw some bodyguards waiting at the side, ready for orders from Alex, who was still sleeping in their bedroom.
“Say, Agent J, it’s embarrassing to let everyone watch us fight. Why don’t we fight somewhere —”
Before Jared could finish speaking, the chandelier hanging from the ceiling suddenly crashed down. Jenica quickly retreated, and Jared and the bodyguards dodged nimbly as well.
The chandelier shattered, and shards flew in her direction. She kicked a small table in front of her, which took the brunt of the flying shards. The table fell to the floor along with the chandelier’s pieces.
She looked in Jared’s direction and saw him standing behind the staircase. He glanced at her and even dared to smile broadly. “You’ve woken the demon up,” he said and whistled playfully. “As much as I want to continue sparing with you, Agent J, that man would beat the hell out of me if I lay a finger on you,” he added while a loose smile was hanging on his lips.
Jenica frowned and looked up the stairs. There stood Alex, frowning and glaring at Jared.
