Chapter 73 The New Anesthetist
Lysander was actually feeling a little guilty as she had asked Lynn for medication without registering. In other words, there was no record of her having an abortion in the Central Hospital’s big data.
If strictly following the procedures for accountability, Lynn would be considered to have violated the rules. Lysander frowned slightly and said, “If the dean holds you accountable later, just push all the blame onto me. Say that I instructed you to do so and you didn’t dare to disobey me because I am your teacher.”
Lynn looked embarrassed and replied, “Dr. Thorne, I
Lysander gave her a reassuring look and said, “Just say that. Don’t worry.”
Ten minutes later, there was a knock on the office door. Lynn went to open the door and she shrunk her neck. “Dean.”
The dean glanced at her and asked, “Why are you so afraid of me?”
“I’m not afraid. You are the director and I respect you
The dean chuckled and said, “I thought the post-2000s have their ego. You are an exception.”
Lynn forced a smile and pulled the corners of her mouth.
The dean walked in and Lysander stood up holding onto the desk. “Dean.”
The dean didn’t seem very surprised by her leg injury. He raised his hand to gesture for her to sit down and talk. “Your leg is not convenient. Please sit down.”
“Don’t worry, Dean. It won’t affect my work. I just have a little trouble walking, but it’s no problem for me to see patients or perform surgery standing up.” Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
The dean smiled reassuringly and said, “You have outstanding abilities. Are you afraid that I will fire you? All right. Take a few days off and let your assistant handle things. Don’t leave any lingering illness behind. The Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at the Central Hospital is counting on you in the future.”
“You’re too kind, Dean.”
“If you do well, you deserve praise. By the way, the hospital blood bank is running low on blood these days. You can accompany the blood collection vehicle to go out. It’s a more relaxed job and it will also give you a chance to rest and relax.”
Lysander asked, “Dean, did you call me for something?”
“Yes. It was supposed to be announced at the meeting next Monday. We have recruited a senior anesthetist from abroad. His qualifications and experience are top-notch. He gave up a high salary abroad to come back to the country and he didn’t even go to the provincial hospital, but chose the Central Hospital. Such talent is very precious!”
Lysander inquired, “Anesthetist?”

“Yes. He will start working at our hospital tomorrow in your Obstetrics and Gynecology Department.”
Lysander nodded immediately and said, “All right. I understand. I will take good care of the expert and try to make him stay.”
The dean chuckled and said, “He will definitely stay, let me introduce him to you. Adrian, come in.”
A man walked in from the door. He was tall and dignified. He smiled and reached out his hand to her. “Hello, Dr. Thorne, I’m Adrian Sutton.”
Lysander was a little stunned.
The dean smiled and introduced him. “Although it may not be necessary. I will still introduce them as a matter of routine. This is Adrian Sutton, a foreign anesthesia expert. Dr. Sutton, this is Lysander Thorne, the most powerful and youngest doctor in our hospital’s obstetrics and gynecology department.”
Adrian had a faint smile on his lips as he nodded slightly and said, “Dr. Thorne, don’t you recognize me?”
Lysander slowly reached out her hand to shake hands with him and asked, “How did you end up in our hospital?”
“Can’t I come?”
“No. What I meant was, with your qualifications, you could choose a hospital in the capital. Even in Harborbrook, you could go to a better provincial hospital.”
Adrian explained, “First, I chose Harborbrook because I am originally from Harborbrook. Although I grew up abroad, my parents and family are all here. Second… being an anesthetist requires a lot of
interaction with colleagues and I value the professionalism and personality of my partners.”
Lysander remained silent and simply nodded politely as she shook hands with him before releasing her grip.
Noticing her sudden change in demeanor, the dean inquired, “Is everything all right, Lysander? Aren’t you familiar with Dr. Sutton? He specifically asked to be assigned to the obstetrics and gynecology department. I assumed you had used your connections to bring this expert to our hospital.”
Lysander glanced at the dean before turning her gaze to Adrian and there was a hint of concern in her eyes. “Did you inform the dean that we are acquainted?”
