Worrywart
She placed her phone face down on the bed after she sent him the reply and gave a long sigh.
Why do they need to meet together?
She tried to assure herself that she is only trying to repay a kind man but who was she kidding?
She knew she wanted that.
Her short time with Gregory has been hell mixed with fire which also results in hell!
She wanted to free up, laugh at someone’s jokes, clink glasses together with someone and smiled at someone as she studies a table menu.
Zack managed to show up for that SOMEONE.
Actually, she accepted his offer because of her own selfish gain not to repay or appreciate the man.
She lands her back on the bed and palm her face.
Trying to get pass Gregory’s eyes should be much easier there.
She thought about the dress she is going to wear.
She stood up after a while and strode out of her room.
She paused and stared around then sigh again.
She is hungry. She has not eaten anything yet and it’s almost noon.
She went down to the kitchen.
The maids around greeted her as they walked past her.
She got to the kitchen and pressed her lips together.
If not because of the cooks in there, she would have screamed out in admiration.
The kitchen there is more awesome than the one back at the lake.
The aroma of soup and the one of a freshly baked bread and more other ones lingered around the room.
“Mrs Winslow. Would you like anything?”one of the cooks enquired immediately she spotted her.
Beatrice’s brows perked up.
Mrs Winslow?.. is that the right word?
She pursed her lips, battling in her bid not to show her a crumpled look.
“Just call me Beatrice.”she smiles.
The cook looks at her in.. Beatrice wasn’t sure of that gaze but she could see perplexity, hesitation and more in them.
“Mrs Winslow sounds too formal and.. I am not.. I have not gained the title yet so.. uhmm.. You know what?, just call me Beatrice, I would like that more.”she grinned.
“I’m Melinda, ma’am. Nice to meet you.”her eyes shone. She looks in her fifty.
“Oh, Chef Melinda. I like that.”she puts her hands behind her.
“Uhm.. chef Melinda, I’m.. famished and.. I would like to have chips and fried chicken with ketchup. That’s my favorite combo.”she uttered nervously.
Melinda stared at her meticulously and Beatrice flashed her a creepy smile.
“It’s fine if you don’t have that. I could have do with another food.”Beatrice cleared her throat.
Melinda widened her eyes.
“No, no, of course, no. I was just trying to make sure I register all what that you said.. I guess my gaze was offensive, I am sorry.”
Beatrice shook her head.
“Of course not. It’s.. totally fine.”she looked over at the two other cooks.
“Why are you guys cooking so much though?. Is there any occasion I wasn’t aware of?”she squints her eyes.
“Well, the boss asked us to make all these.”Melinda responded with a smile.
“The.. boss?. Did he gave any reason?”
“Yes. He said his wife likes food a lot.”she nodded.
Beatrice’s lips opened slightly and she forced out a chuckle, her brows furrowing slightly.
“His wife?”she wasn’t sure of that words.
“Yes, his wife.”
“W.. hich wife?”she asked inquisitively.
She didn’t want to believe he actually referred to her as his wife and that he told them to prepare such voluptuous food.
In which stomach would she eat all that?
And, they were always at each other’s thr- No, he never cared about her other activities aside from reading to him so.. how did he guessed correctly that she is a foodie?
“Of course, you, his wife.”Melinda said, befuddled.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
Beatrice clapped her hands together and smiled jumpily.
“Don’t mind me. I’m kind of having a splitting headache and.. oh, I have been staring at my phone’s screen for days so I think that seems to have infected my eyes and oh, I’m hungry so..”she stopped talking when she realized what a gibber she is spewing.
Melinda didn’t look discombobulated though. She was rather delighted.
“I.. I don’t get.. why are you laughing?.. you should be boggling up because of my incoherent speech instead.”she itched her nape.
“You are blushing.”Melinda pointed out.
Beatrice’s brows went up quizzically.
“Who?, me??, I am??”she pointed to herself.
Melinda nodded.
“Ah.. I see, I truly am.”she wiped her face hoping to wipe that annoying red color off her face.
“It’s indeed a lovely sight to see loving couples.”Melinda added.
“You can go sit down at the dining room. I will bring your food to you soon.”
“By soon, you mean the food is ready already?”
“Yes.”
Beatrice’s eyes widened.
“B-but how??”
“Your husband.”
..
Beatrice tapped her fingers on the table, taking her lips in as she stared at the kitchen’s direction.
‘That vampire must really have something up his sleeve. If not, why is he acting so caring?’she thoughts to herself.
Melinda popped up with a platter and came to settle it down on the table before her.
“Thank..”
“You know, it’s really nice to have you here.”Melinda interpolated.
Huh?
Beatrice’s brows perked up but she was quick to put a smile on and nodded.
“I see, I will enjoy this.”she grinned and picked a chicken up from the plate.
Melinda seems to have more to say but Beatrice, even though she had noticed that, didn’t gave her any audience as she got herself engrossed with her food.
Melinda chuckles silently before scramming off.
When she was out of sight, Beatrice paused and sighed languishingly.
She carried her glass of juice and gulped it down.
..
“Isn’t that crossing the line?. This is the sick we are talking about here.”Brown remarked, placing a glass of apple juice in front of Amelia.
Amelia scoffs before drinking from the glass quickly.
“Remind me to file for a divorce tonight, Brown. Sooner or later, you will influence me with your neuroticism.”she sighed.
“Why do we have to talk about divorcing in our conversations every day, Amelia?”he frowned.
“I just can’t keep being married to a worrywart like you, period!”She snapped.
“Maybe you’re the one getting too cruel, Lia. To yourself and to us!”
Amelia flicked her hair back in disdain and rolled her eyes.
“We’ve already found out where her mother is staying. Tomorrow, we would go there and question her. If her marriage to him is indeed real, her mother would know. Naturally, if it’s only a contract marriage, she wouldn’t let her mother know. We will get to the truth tomorrow.”
