His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 299

Aaron smirked as he climbed into his car. With a roar of the engine, he sped off, leaving a cloud of dust in his wake. It seemed like he had completely lost it, and Casper couldn't help but see a reflection of his own wild past in Aaron's madness. What had happened today?

He took a lingering look at the yard before heading back into the living room. Brock was still shaken but now sleeping fitfully. Eliza had been comforting him the whole time. Today had been nothing short of bizarre. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

Why would someone try to snatch her kid right outside the daycare with cops on duty? And why there, of all places? What was Aaron doing there at that exact moment? More importantly, was Nova really the person she had seen in that minivan?

None of it made any sense. It was all so random, with no reason.

If it really was Nova, then was there a connection to Casper? But why would Casper want to kidnap Brock? That didn't even make any sense.

It couldn't be him.

The knock at the door interrupted her thoughts. Eliza glanced at Brock, who was now peacefully asleep, and gently laid him down before heading to the door. Casper stood on the other side.

After stepping out of the bedroom and closing the door behind her, she asked, "What's up?"

"What happened?"

She hesitated but then decided to tell him. "There was an incident. Someone tried to snatch Brock when I took him to daycare today."

"Someone tried to kidnap Brock?" Casper was shocked but quickly put the pieces together. "Aaron showed up just in time to chase the kidnapper away?" Eliza was taken aback by Casper's sharpness. He was genuinely quick-witted. "Yes."

"Heh." Quite the actor.

He chuckled, shaking his head. "So, now you're all grateful to Aaron, huh?"

Eliza couldn't tell if Casper was mocking her or something else. She replied coldly, "That's none of your business."

"This kid may not be my concern,

but I feel obliged to remind you that Aaron's actions aren't as innocent as they seem. You should be careful not to get played."

Was there any point in beating around the bush?

"I might not be as clever as you, Mr ё Casper, but I'm not dumb. If anyone tries to harm my kid, I'll fight them tooth and nail, and that includes you."

"Me?" Casper raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. How could everything possibly lead back to him? This was pure prejudice.

"Eliza, I'm genuinely curious. What makes you think I would kidnap your child?"

"Did I say I suspected you?" she retorted, raising an eyebrow.

"What do you mean by 'that includes me?' If you want to go after those who harm your child, try to remember the kidnapper's license plate and ask your dear Aaron why he conveniently showed up to play the hero instead of throwing baseless accusations at me."

For the first time, Eliza was left speechless. With a huff, she headed downstairs.

Casper lingered for a moment, frustrated, before following her down.

"The kid's been through a lot. Maybe it's best to stay home with him today instead of going to the office." Then, he turned to leave for work. Eliza slowly lifted her gaze, locking eyes with Casper, and suddenly murmured, "Is Nova really dead?"

Casper's steps halted abruptly. When he turned around, his dark eyes narrowed slightly. "What do you mean?"

Eliza took a deep breath. "I saw someone who looked a lot like Nova in the kidnapper's minivan. Dillon told me Nova was dead. Is it true?" Casper had ordered Dillon to deal with both Faithe and Nova. Was the job not done thoroughly?

"Are you sure Nova was the person you saw?"

Eliza shook her head; she wasn't certain. The windows were tinted, and her view wasn't clear. "I only saw the person's profile. It looked similar."
