Chapter 98 Exposed

The police station?

The man furrowed his brows even more. He lowered his voice, as if he was trying to comfort her, "Wait

for me. I'll be there soon."

"Okay." Margaret nodded.

The call ended.

Charleston stood up straight away and glanced at his surroundings. He said emotionlessly, "Let's call it

a day, gentlemen. I have something urgent to attend to."

"But..." A director next to him wanted to stop him from leaving.

After all, the meeting agenda spelt out how important the meeting was today.

However, it seemed that Charleston did not hear him.

He walked past him and then headed outside hurriedly.

...

Margaret looked at the dimmed screen.

When she thought about Charleston asking her to wait for him, for some reason, she felt at ease in an

instant.

She had warned herself countless times not to depend on him.

Yet, it seemed that whenever she was in danger, she would involuntarily think of him first.

"My friend will come over later. Can we wait until he is here?" Margaret looked up at the police and

asked. The police nodded.

"Okay then. You can sit here and wait." After that, the police left.

Margaret was left alone in the interrogation room.

The light in the interrogation room was dim.

Margaret began to retrace what had happened that day.

The telescopic sword had suddenly turned into a real sword. Obviously, someone had swapped it.

That person was most probably Zoey and her assistant.

But why did they want to frame her?

She was about to finish filming her part of the film. What benefit would they gain from framing her?

Margaret could not figure it out. As she was thinking about it, she accidentally fell asleep on the sofa.

When she opened her eyes again, she felt another presence in the room.

A familiar presence.

She focused her gaze and saw Charleston standing in front of her.

His pair of dark eyes were staring right at her.

"Mr. Limbaugh..." Margaret said as she subconsciously sniffled.

Charleston scooped her up and said, "Okay, it's alright now. Let's go back."

"Ahem, put me down. I can walk on my own." Margaret felt a little embarrassed.

Charleston fixed his gaze on her and teased, "I'm not putting you down. You looked for me when you

were in trouble but now you won't let me hold you? You little rascal!"

Upon hearing Charleston's words, Margaret suddenly felt that she was really a despicable rascal.

A despicable, unfaithful rascal.

"By the way, the police..." Margaret hesitated for a moment.

"I'll handle it. No one can stop me from taking you away," Charleston said gently.

Margaret blinked as she looked at Charleston.

"Larry, send Miss Margaret back and come pick me up after," Charleston said. He carefully put

Margaret in the back seat of the car.

Larry nodded. He then asked, "Sir, shall I send Miss Margaret back to the apartment or the villa?"

Margaret was about to say that she wanted to be dropped off at the apartment, but Charleston was one

step ahead of her. He answered, "To the Limbaugh villa."

"Yes, Sir."

"Where are you going?" Margaret looked at Charleston in confusion. This man did not look like he was

getting in the car.

"I'm going to handle some stuff. I'll be back soon. Don't miss me too much. Just wait for me at home

like a good girl," Charleston said gently.

"Who would I miss you? You are so shameless." Margaret turned her head grumpily. However, her two

cheeks were blushing.

Larry had heard their conversation. Though he remained expressionless, he was actually rather

emotional on the inside. He had never seen Mr. Limbaugh being so kind to someone else.

After getting into the car, Larry started the car engine and drove away slowly.

After watching the car leave, Charleston looked away and walked towards the police station.

"Mr. Limbaugh." The policeman looked at Charleston and greeted him respectfully.

Charleston had so much influence that even the police treated him with great respect.

"Who accused her of deliberately hurting someone else?" Charleston sat on the sofa with his legs

crossed. His eyes were filled with nobility. "The informant is an artist's assistant from the same crew as

Miss Simons," the policeman answered nervously.

Charleston's tall body sat on the leather chair.

From time to time, he would tap his slim fingers on the table. Then, he spoke casually, "Get the

surveillance footage of when Zoey got hurt." This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

However, the surveillance footage from the Studio City could not be viewed so casually.

The police was about to say this to Charleston, but he suddenly remembered that Studio City was

under the jurisdiction of the Limbaugh Group.

In other words, as the chairman of Limbaugh Group, Charleston was absolutely qualified to demand for

the footage and to take a look at it.

Therefore, the policeman nodded and made a call to ask for the footage.

Soon enough, the footage was shared with the policeman.

The policeman quickly turned on the computer.

The room at the police station was a little dark. The light coming from the lamp was shining on

Charleston's face.

It added a soft glow to his stern, handsome face.

Charleston watched the video that was sent over.

In the props room, a strange woman sneaked in.

Then, she popped open the two boxes in the props room and swapped the props inside.

Evidently, this was the culprit behind the prop-swap, and it was done deliberately too.

Then, she shamelessly pointed fingers at Margaret.

The policeman was very surprised at this turn of events. After he replayed it once more, he stated,

"This looks to be Zoey's assistant."

This was obviously a set-up.

The policeman sighed. He knew that the entertainment industry was very complicated, but he did not

expect it to be this messed up.

They were willing to frame someone else, and were even alright with hurting themselves.

"You should know what to do now, yes?" Charleston said casually.

"Don't worry, Mr. Limbaugh. I know what to do." The policeman nodded.

They were the police. Naturally, criminals had to be arrested.

Evidently, the criminal in this case was the assistant.

"Okay." Charleston nodded.

"What did you say? Margaret was released?" When Zoey heard the news, she widened her eyes in

disbelief.

At first, she thought that Margaret would remain in custody for ten or more days. Once the news report

came out, she wanted to see how Margaret would wiggle her way out of this.

However, at this moment, Margaret had been released.

Just then, the assistant received another news. When she heard it clearly, her face suddenly turned

pale.

"Zoey, they discovered that we were the ones who framed Margaret. The police are now looking for

me. You must save me," the assistant pleaded hurriedly.

Zoey's face instantly paled. Then, she awkwardly became stiff and said, "You, I'm telling you. You'll

have to take all the blame for this. Don't get me involved in it."

"But, you were the one who ordered me to..." The assistant stared wide-eyed at Zoey.

Zoey threatened, "If you don't do as I say, I can't guarantee your family's safety."

The assistant trembled and said, "I, I understand..."
