Yanis nodded and then turned to Aunt Gloria, who was standing by the door. She whispered, "Aunt
Gloria, please go inside first."
Aunt Gloria nodded and curtsied, "Of course."
After Aunt Gloria entered the house, Yanis walked up to Ryan. "Have you had breakfast?" she asked.
Ryan replied, "Yes." Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
"Let's take a walk around," Yanis suggested.
When Ryan heard Yanis's words, he hesitated for a moment but then nodded. He followed Yanis as
they walked side by side, seemingly both lost in thought and not eager to break the silence.
After walking for a while, Yanis spoke first, "Did Uncle Baxter contact Ivan?"
Ryan looked at Yanis's face when she asked this question. "He contacted Ivan yesterday," he
responded.
Yesterday, when Ryan received Ivan's call, his initial thought was that Yanis had called Ivan to inform
him about their meeting. However, he later found out that Ivan knew because he had arranged for
someone to watch them, fearing that they might cause trouble for Yanis.
Ryan felt somewhat helpless, as he had never imagined his son would be this cautious around him, as
though he were guarding against criminals.
"I told you that I would consider it. I will really think about it. You don't need to..." Yanis began.
"Yanis."
Ryan interrupted her before she could finish speaking. "Can you go see her today?"
Yanis's words got caught in her throat as she looked into Ryan's eyes, where she could see a glimmer
of hope. She found it difficult to reject his request.
Time passed in silence, and Yanis finally pressed her lips together. "Maybe later, around noon, I'll go."
Relieved that Yanis agreed, Ryan let out a sigh. "Then we'll have lunch at home."
Yanis's mind was in turmoil, and she just managed to muster a response, "Sure."
Ryan smiled faintly. "She said she dreamed of leaving and wanted to see you again."
Yanis's initial intention to decline faded away upon meeting Ryan's expectant gaze. She remained
silent for a moment before agreeing, "Okay, I'll go around noon."
Ryan's relief was evident as he replied, "Great, we'll have lunch together at home."
Yanis's thoughts were scattered at the moment. After Ryan left, she stood there for a while before
turning back inside.
"Mrs. Lawrence, are you okay?" Aunt Alice approached, concerned about Yanis's expression.
Yanis changed her shoes and shook her head gently. "I'm fine, I'll go upstairs and rest for a bit."
Aunt Alice hesitated for a moment before dialing Zane's number. Upon receiving the call, Zane was just
finishing a meeting.
"What's going on?" he asked.
"Mr. Lawrence, Mr. Baxter came to see Mrs. Lawrence again. She didn't look well when she came
back. Shouldn't you give Mrs. Lawrence a call?" Aunt Alice spoke softly.
Zane listened to her and immediately responded, "I'll be back soon."
Considering Yanis's current situation, Zane was careful in everything he did. Before leaving home, he
would instruct Aunt Gloria and Aunt Alice multiple times to take good care of Yanis. Therefore, if Yanis
showed any signs of distress, Aunt Alice would call Zane to update him.
After all, they wouldn't be able to handle the responsibility if something happened to Yanis.
Back in the Lawrence Group building, in Zane's top-floor office.
After ending the call with Aunt Alice, Zane stood up and prepared to leave. But just as he reached the
door, it swung open from the outside, and Phoebe walked in carrying a stack of documents. She
noticed Zane about to leave and hurriedly stepped in, blocking his way. "Where are you going?"
"Back home for a while," Zane paused, looking at the documents in her hands. "What are these?"
"Project proposals we've been working on recently. Take a look," Phoebe said.
"Give them to Uncle Dylan or go over them with Albi. I have something to take care of," Zane instructed
before attempting to leave again.
However, before he could reach the door, Phoebe rushed up and grabbed his arm. "Wait, why are you
going back at this time?"
"Yanis is not in a good mood."
Phoebe sighed, "Alright, then go back and comfort her. Will you come back to the company afterward?"
"I'll see."
Phoebe let out a deep breath. "Brother, I'm not in a good mood either. Should I go back to calm down?"
Zane glanced at her and softly said, "The office is more conducive to calmness. You can use mine."
With that, he turned and left without looking back.
Phoebe stood alone in the office, glancing at the documents on her desk. She felt utterly defeated.
Zane bought some of Yanis's favorite pastries on his way back home, which he thought she might
enjoy. He finally arrived at D-king Castle.
However, even before he got home, he received a call from Dylan.
Answering the call, Zane heard Dylan's voice coming from the other end. "Are you not at the office?"
"No, I'm not. Yanis hasn't been eating much at home, so I'm going back to check on her," Zane replied.
If this were before, Dylan would have scolded Zane for neglecting work. But now, he seemed more
concerned. "Is everything okay with Yanis?"
"She's fine for now."
"In that case, focus on what you need to do," Dylan advised.
Zane didn't hang up immediately but instead inquired, "Do you need something?"
Dylan paused for a few seconds before saying in a low voice, "It's about Jo again, but you can continue
with your tasks for now. We can discuss this matter later."
Acknowledging Dylan's words, Zane responded, "Alright, we'll talk later."
After ending the call, Zane was about to put his phone away when it started ringing again. He glanced
at the caller ID and his brow furrowed.
He answered the call, his tone curt, "What's the matter?"
Lisa's voice came from the other end, "Zane, are you busy? I'd like to see you."
Zane's brows furrowed even more upon hearing her voice. He replied coolly, "I am busy. I might not
have time today."
"In that case, tonight, in the evening, can I come to your house?"
Zane's brows tightened further. "I'll be spending time with Yanis tonight, so I won't have time."
"I won't take up much of your time, just a few minutes," Lisa persisted.
Zane fell silent for a moment, then asked directly, "What exactly do you want? I've already made it clear
about Jo. He won't stay with me."
As he spoke, Zane paused briefly before continuing, "If you trust me, leave Jo at the Lawrence's
Mansion, or with Uncle Dylan. I promise you'll have access to him whenever you want, and Jo won't be
sent out of Manchester City."
