Chapter 1119: Wanting to Earn More Money

Listening to Reed's words, Sandy hesitated, not quite sure how to respond.

"It's okay," Reed said as he noticed Sandy's silence. He reached out and lightly patted Sandy's arm,

showing a reassuring smile.

Sandy managed a smile back at Reed before finally speaking up, "Do you have any plans for the

future?"

Considering Reed's age, he should be in college under normal circumstances, but due to his current

situation, he had to enter the workforce prematurely.

Upon hearing Sandy's question, Reed fell silent for a moment before answering, "I don't know. I haven't

figured out what I want to do yet."

"You should be in school at your age," Sandy continued, turning her gaze to Reed. "Do you want to go

back to school?"

Reed shook his head. "I'd better not. It's not suitable for me now."

As time goes by, certain thoughts may fade away without much consideration. This applied to Reed as

well. Once the age for certain activities has passed, the urgency to pursue them diminishes.

"Actually, if you want to, you can still pursue it," Sandy said softly.

Reed shook his head again. "It's alright. I'm not really interested."

Before, when Yang Juan was still around, Reed used to envy people like Natasha, who were in school.

However, after experiencing life and death situations, he had come to appreciate a stable and peaceful

life. So, the idea of returning to school didn't hold much appeal to him, and he even felt a bit resistant to

it.

While they had found their footing in Manches City, it was largely due to Yanis, Zane, and Bonnie that

they could settle down in this environment. Sandy wanted to ease some of the burden on Mitch, aiming

for them to survive on their own terms in this new environment.

Therefore, she wanted to do something more meaningful.

"Do you have anything you want to do?" Sandy asked, looking at Reed with curiosity.

"Nothing in particular," Reed replied.

After a pause, Reed continued, "If I were to think about it, I'd want to earn more money so that my

brother can have a slightly easier life."

Upon hearing Reed's words, Sandy spoke up, "Reed, I have a friend who's currently looking for an

assistant. Would you be interested?"

Pausing for a moment, Sandy continued, "It's for an artist's assistant role, mainly handling

miscellaneous tasks. My friend is easy to get along with and very understanding. If you're interested, I

can introduce you."

Reed fell silent for a moment before responding, "I haven't done this kind of work before. I'm afraid I

might not be good at it and would cause you trouble."

"It's not a problem at all. My friend is easy to work with, and you won't have to handle complicated

tasks. You just need to follow the normal work routine," Sandy reassured him.

Reed was still a bit hesitant, about to say something, when the doorbell rang.

Both Sandy and Reed turned their heads toward the door. Aunt Gloria went to open it.

It was Allan who came in.

Upon seeing Allan, Reed's eyes brightened.

Sandy, observing Reed's reaction from the side, leaned in and whispered, "You can talk to Allan. If you

decide to go for it, just let me know, alright?"

Reed had been considering discussing the matter with his family, so when Sandy suggested it, he

nodded in agreement, "Alright."

"Why is it just you two?" Allan walked over from the door and asked as he entered.

Reed replied, "Yanis is taking a nap, and Mr. Lawrence hasn't come out from the backyard."

Allan nodded, "I've wrapped up my matters. You can chat with Miss Thompson first. I actually need to

talk to Zane about something."

Reed nodded, "Sure."

Allan nodded at Sandy and then turned to head for the backyard.

Ever since the florist delivered the flowers, Zane had been in the backyard, arranging and organizing.

"Are you planning to turn this place into a flower paradise?" Allan remarked upon entering, greeted by a

room full of flowers.

Zane turned to glance at him, then replied, "Sort of."

"Is Yanis fond of it?" Allan asked.

Zane neither confirmed nor denied, coldly responding, "Don't you have something to do? How did you

finish so quickly?"

"Just some minor things," Allan said as he walked over to Zane's side. "So, how are you planning to

arrange these?"

Zane stood up straight and pondered before saying, "I'm thinking of forming a heart shape with these

flowers and placing something else in the center."

After hearing Zane's plan, Allan clicked his tongue twice, "Mr. Lawrence, your ideas are truly beyond

me."

Zane shot a fleeting look at Allan, as if saying, "If you can't speak, just get out."

Ignoring Zane's look, Allan approached and adjusted the flowers Zane had already placed, "You

haven't even touched the soil here. Even if you want to plant something, you can't."

Saying that, Allan pointed to a pile of flowers that hadn't been placed yet, "Move these over to the

center. Then, put the others on the outer edges. This way is better than burying them inside like you're

trying to plant a garden."

Listening to Allan's advice, Zane lifted an eyebrow and then turned his gaze to him.

Allan, with a serious expression, instructed, "What are you standing there for? Just follow what I said.

See if it looks much better this way than how you arranged it before."

Zane stood still for a while before starting to rearrange the flowers.

Both of them remained silent and communicated without words as they artfully arranged the flowers.

"Well? Does it look better than you imagined?" Allan leaned against the side, his gaze fixed on Zane's

face.

Zane and Allan exchanged glances before Zane finally asked, "You mentioned earlier that you wanted

to talk about something?"

Allan raised an eyebrow at Zane's question and then turned around to take out a cigarette, "Want

one?"

Zane's brow furrowed slightly, and he reached out to accept the cigarette, "No lighter?"

Allan chuckled, "If I told you there's no lighter, would you use your hands?"

Zane immediately turned his head to look at him.

Allan continued, "Reed doesn't like me smoking. It's bad for health. So, I just carry them around for a

whiff when I feel like it."

With that, Allan glanced at Zane, "Yanis is pregnant. Shouldn't you be more careful?"

Zane didn't respond and placed the cigarette between his lips, "Get to the point."

Allan fell silent for a few seconds before speaking, "There's an issue with the project I'm working on

with Evan. I don't want to involve Evan in it." Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Allan put a cigarette between his own lips as well, "So, I was thinking of tapping into your network to

find a more suitable partner."
