After listening to Zane's explanation, Yanis was still somewhat surprised.
"Well, that's their own business," Yanis said softly, looking at Zane. "Earlier, they mentioned
compensating Ms. Walpole. What's your take on that?"
"It's up to Ms. Walpole to decide on that matter."
Yanis nodded, "And what did you and Allan do? How did you come back so quickly?"
In fact, when Yanis messaged Zane, she thought it would take at least half an hour for him to return.
However, she hadn't expected that it would only take about ten minutes from when she messaged him
to his return.
"We talked about something, just nearby," Zane replied and then looked at Yanis. "Did you have
breakfast?"
"Yeah," Yanis replied, "Did you have yours?"
Zane checked the time on his watch, then said, "I grabbed a quick bite outside with Allan. I also need to
make a trip to the company later."
"Is something wrong at the company?"
"There's an issue with a contract Phoebe was negotiating. I'm going to take a look."
Yanis nodded. "Well, since you're going to drop me off at the store later."
Zane agreed, but before he could say anything further, his phone rang.
Zane glanced at Yanis, then answered the call.
It was Lisa on the line.
Zane's tone was calm as he spoke, "What's up?"
"Zane, I plan to take Jo to the Lawrence's Mansion today. Will you come?"
Upon hearing Lisa's words, Zane responded in a measured tone, "I have other things to attend to
today, so I might not be able to make it."
Unlike before, Lisa didn't insist stubbornly this time. Instead, she confirmed whether she could see Jo
anytime in the future.
"As Jo's mother, you can see him anytime you want."
"I understand. Thank you, Zane."
Zane acknowledged, "If there's nothing else, I'll end the call."
Without waiting for Lisa's response, Zane hung up.
Yanis sat nearby, watching Zane hang up the call. She turned to him and asked, "Lisa's call?"
Zane didn't hide anything, replying honestly, "She's planning to take Jo to the Lawrence's Mansion and
asked if I'd come."
"Did she agree to send Jo to the Lawrence's Mansion?"
Zane nodded, "Yes, she agreed."
In fact, Lisa had thought it through carefully before making her decision.
Jo had spent these years with her, living in constant fear. Lisa herself didn't know when someone might
target her, and she didn't mind for herself. But it was different for Jo. She couldn't let him be in danger.
So the best choice was to send Jo back to the Lawrence family. That way, Jo's safety would be
guaranteed.
After having lunch, Zane dropped Yanis off at the store and then headed to the Lawrence Group.
"Yanis, it's been a while!"
Linda and Chen had also been incredibly busy lately. Although Yanis had been at the store a couple of
days ago, they hadn't crossed paths, so it had been quite a long time since they'd seen each other.
"Long time no see indeed. Why are you alone? Where's Chen?" Yanis inquired.
"He went to the wedding venue," Linda said, her gaze falling on Yanis's abdomen curiously. "Yanis, is
the baby a boy or a girl?"
Yanis chuckled and glanced at her slightly protruding belly. "Either is fine, as long as they're healthy
and safe."
Linda nodded, "Definitely healthy and safe!"
"Let's head inside," Yanis suggested.
Linda agreed and opened the door. The items inside had been mostly organized, although it still looked
a bit messy.
"Are things all sorted?" Yanis asked, looking around.
"Almost done. We're just waiting for the new place to be cleaned up and ready, then we can move in,"
Linda said, then turned to Yanis. "Yanis, are we going to see you often after we move?"
Yanis acknowledged, "Bonnie didn't tell you? We're still together."
"Still together? That's great! I thought we might be separated after we move."
"No, we'll still be together."
"Why did you come so early? Have you had lunch?"
As they were talking, Bonnie's voice came from the door.
Zane sent me over," Yanis replied.
Yanis walked over, "Why did you bring Mles with you?"
"My dad said he wanted to get Grandpa checked at the hospital. We got an appointment for this
afternoon, and we didn't have much to do, so we brought him along," Bonnie said as she brought the
car inside and let Mles out.
Yanis crouched down to play with Mles for a moment before turning to Bonnie, who was busy arranging
things. "What's your plan for the upcoming days? You'll be really busy."
"What do you mean, my plan for what? Mles or something else?"
Yanis stood up, "When the new place is ready, it'll be quite far from where you live. It might be a bit
inconvenient to have Mles with you all the time."
"We'll see. We'll be back and forth, so what's to worry about if we have a car?"
"But it will tire you out. You're not superwoman, you know?"
Bonnie poked Yanis gently, "I know my limits. And with Mles around, I'll definitely take breaks and take
care of him."
Yanis took a deep breath, "These next few days will be busy for you. You can leave the store to Chen
and Yao for now. I've already talked to Zane about my side of things. He'll send people over to organize
and move everything in a couple of days."
