Chapter 1133: Welcome Home, Lorraine

Lorraine nodded in agreement, saying, "I think so too."

Cooperating, Lorraine nodded and walked over to take a seat beside Reed. She turned her head and

greeted Reed, "Hello, I'm Lorraine."

Reed smiled at Lorraine and replied, "Hello."

Allan turned his head and said, "Miss Kipling, my daughter Reed is a bit timid. Would you mind keeping

her company for a while?"

Lorraine made an "ok" gesture, assuring him, "No worries."

After Haider took his seat, he didn't glance towards Lorraine's direction anymore.

The group of people chatted and enjoyed themselves until the early morning before dispersing.

Allan had consumed quite a bit of alcohol, but Aurora was still holding onto Reed's hand, protecting her

like a treasure. "You guys go on, we'll take a cab back." This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

Evan was quite intoxicated. "I'll find a nearby hotel to sleep in. You all go ahead."

Haider instructed Eduard to take Evan to a hotel after he had helped him upstairs.

With everyone settled, Haider finally looked towards Lorraine, who was standing quietly by the side.

"Come here," he beckoned with a raised hand.

For some reason, the way Haider beckoned Lorraine made her feel like he was calling a little dog. After

all, she was about to break her legs-wasn't he treating her like a dog?

Lorraine stood still for a while before walking towards Haider.

When she was about three steps away from Haider, Lorraine stopped and looked at him. She called his

name with both his first and last names, "Haider."

Haider acknowledged with a sound, closing the gap between them. "Lorraine, welcome home."

Lorraine had something to say, but Haider's words held her back.

The two of them just stared at each other up close, and this time, neither seemed inclined to break the

silence.

Time passed second by second, and eventually, Lorraine couldn't hold it anymore. She averted her

gaze first and said softly, "I need to go back."

Just as Lorraine spoke, Haider reached out and grabbed her wrist, his voice deep, "Go where?"

Lorraine turned to look at him, her expression questioning. "Where can I go? Back to the hotel."

After immigrating, the Kipling family had sold most of their houses in Manches City. Now that Lorraine

was back, she didn't have a place to stay.

The apartment she rented was temporarily unavailable until the landlord returned from out of town

tomorrow. Hence, Lorraine had no choice but to stay at a hotel for these few days.

"You're staying at a hotel?" Haider seemed somewhat surprised.

Lorraine nodded and replied, "Otherwise, should I sleep on the street?"

Haider's gaze lingered on Lorraine for a few seconds before he stood up and gestured towards the

parking area. "Stay at my place tonight. I'll have someone bring your things over later."

"I don't want to!" Lorraine rejected Haider's suggestion without a second thought.

However, Haider didn't leave her any room for negotiation. His tone carried a hint of warning, "Lorraine,

you know what kind of person I am. Don't test my patience. In Manches City, you're no match for me."

A retort was on the tip of Lorraine's tongue, but after a second thought, she realized Haider's words

held some truth. In Manches City, she really wasn't a match for Haider.

With Haider's words in mind, she would indeed find it difficult to navigate Manches City.

So, Lorraine was pragmatic and replied with a hint of helplessness, "You said you gave me your

patience, but I haven't seen any signs of patience from you!"

Haider chuckled softly, reaching out and pulling Lorraine closer. "Lorraine, my behavior depends on

how you act. Got it?"

Lorraine swatted Haider's hand away. "Don't get handsy."

Tonight, Haider seemed to be in a good mood. He let Lorraine's comment slide and leaned back,

resting his head against her shoulder. He closed his eyes and said, "Let me rest for a while. I had a bit

too much to drink."

Haider's alcohol tolerance wasn't impressive, but he wasn't easily drunk either. Coupled with the fact

that he hadn't consumed much tonight, he managed to remain coherent.

Lorraine had no opportunity to reject him and Haider had already closed his eyes, resting on her

shoulder.

Suppressing the urge to push him away, Lorraine ground out, "You're pressing on me too hard."

Haider didn't respond to Lorraine's remark.

Just as Lorraine was about to say something, Haider's voice echoed softly in her ear, "When my entire

weight was on you, you weren't in pain. But now, this is hurting you?"

His words didn't just stun Lorraine; they also left Eduard, who was driving, dumbfounded.

If Eduard's mental fortitude wasn't particularly strong, they might have crashed the car onto a greenbelt

by now.

To ensure he wouldn't be silenced by Haider tomorrow when he was sober, Eduard silently raised the

partition. This way, whatever happened in the back wouldn't have anything to do with him.

Staring at the raised partition, Lorraine couldn't hold back anymore. She reached out and gave Haider's

waist a strong twist, as if she intended to twist off a chunk of his flesh.

Haider didn't even flinch in pain, merely furrowing his brows slightly.

Seeing him not react, Lorraine's grip involuntarily loosened, and she lowered her voice, "Haider, you're

shameless!"

"If I were to be shameless, I wouldn't want you. In that case, I'd choose the former!" Haider retorted

with a smirk.

Lorraine was momentarily speechless, outwitted by Haider's response. Eventually, she fell silent.

Regardless of what Haider did, Lorraine maintained an unyielding demeanor.

The car soon pulled up in front of the Kaylin Hotel.

As if he had a sixth sense, Haider suddenly sat up straight, half-squinting as he looked towards the

hotel entrance. His gaze turned serious, and then he shifted his attention back to Lorraine, who was

sitting beside him. "Which floor are you staying on?"

Lorraine remained silent, ignoring Haider's question.

Haider didn't press her further. Instead, he raised his hand and rapped on the partition.

"Go up and bring Miss Kipling's things down!"

Eduard heard the command and responded, turning to open the car door and heading into the hotel.

Lorraine let out a soft sigh and reached for the door handle, preparing to follow Eduard.

However, before she could get out of the car, Haider reached over and stopped her. "What are you

doing?"

"What am I doing? I can't trust him to handle my things properly!"

Upon hearing Lorraine's response, Haider's eyebrow quirked playfully. "Then I'll go with you."

Lorraine didn't have a chance to voice her refusal before Haider had already opened the car door and

gotten out

. He called Eduard over in passing.

Eduard turned to Haider, who had gotten out of the car, and asked, "Mr. Hughes?"

Haider waved towards Eduard. "You wait in the car. I'll go upstairs with her to get her things."

Eduard nodded and said, "Alright."

Lorraine could only accompany Haider as they went upstairs.
