Chapter 455 Fracture
"Yes, I know him. He's working in Dattlech, all thanks to Eleanor for pulling the strings. I have to thank you too. If it weren't for you asking me to take care of Eleanor, I wouldn't have met her," Samantha said, her words and expression natural, without any hint of strangeness or flaws. Harper looked at Samantha's smiling face and smiled faintly herself, then asked in a low voice, "So you didn't know Eleanor before taking care of her, right?" "Of course not, Harper. You hired me, remember?" Samantha's smile widened.
Harper smiled too and didn't ask further questions.
She wasn't actually suspicious of Eleanor doing anything for her sake, but she just wanted to make sure.
Because of the recent collision accident, she and Benjamin hadn't continued with this matter. If it weren't for the accident, she didn't know what would have happened next. She also didn't know what other things Benjamin would do for Lauren.
Harper instructed Samantha to take good care of Eleanor and then went to see Yinson.Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Yinson examined her, and although the baby wasn't injured, there was some fracturing on her lateral pelvic bone.
Due to her pregnancy, Harper couldn't take many medications, so they just hoped she'd heal on her own by having her stay in one position for as long as she could.
But the pain didn't ease up; because she had to stay still, even breathing was tricky, and she had to keep her body straight, which was really uncomfortable. Harper couldn't drive herself, so she asked Annie to pick her up.
Instead of going back to the office, she had Annie drop her off at her apartment.
Benjamin found out about Harper's injury from Yinson. Since Harper hadn't told him herself, he sent Curtis to check, and soon got confirmation.
When Benjamin heard that, his expression turned extremely dark.
He squinted, his eyes cold and displeased, and said, "Get Kimberly to come to the Martin Group."
Kimberly was in charge of the Mitchell Group now, and though things weren't great, it was much better than before.
Harper's warnings had kept everyone in line, so everything moved in a smooth direction.
But since some people were still unhappy about it, Benjamin wasn't going to be lenient with them.
Kimberly went to the Martin Group and straight to Benjamin's office.
She hadn't seen Benjamin in a while and knew there was no chance for them, so any feelings she had were long gone.
When Curtis called her in, she was nervous, wondering what was up.
Benjamin gestured for her to sit on the couch before joining her. He then signaled for Curtis to bring some water for them.
Kimberly, sensing the seriousness of the situation, spoke up. "Benjamin, I doubt you called me here just for a drink. What's going on?"
Kimberly, clever as she was, had known Benjamin for years, but their connection was only due to their grandfathers. Though he looked out for her, they weren't close; at most, she was like a distant sister from their family's circle of acquaintances.
Kimberly understood this well; she harbored different intentions all along.
However, she never crossed any lines.
Benjamin gave her a fleeting glance, his gaze profound, hinting at depths of meaning.
He spoke in a detached tone. "Kimberly, I've mentioned before, Harper and I are now married. So, technically, we can't be too intimate with each other, right?"
Kimberly's eyelids fluttered, and she bit her lip gently. "I understand what you're saying. If you don't mind, I'll address you as Mr. Martin from now on."
That simple change in address completely shifted the dynamic between them.
Benjamin didn't object, silently agreeing to her suggestion.
