Chapter 279 The Fish Got Hooked (Part Two)

How about Stephen? Was he reliable? Could she trust him? Since he said that only John could be

trusted, did that mean that he was actually untrustworthy? Did he conceal something from her? Or did

he knew everything all along but he didn't dare to speak it out to her? Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.

Cherry knew better than anyone in her heart that Jackson was the answer of the whole riddle.

Everything happened because of Jackson, and everyone was scared by him. They all listened to him

and did anything that Jackson ordered or required. No one dared to say no to him, and no one dared to

speak their thoughts out. But why could Jackson frighten so many people all at once? Wasn't there

anyone who could talk to him like his equal?

Cherry then heard the door open, and after she turned around, she saw Jackson come in.

"Have you finished helping Joe with homework?" asked Jackson, while walking closer to Cherry.

"Yes. Has Grandpa gone to bed yet?" asked Cherry.

"Yes." Jackson then stood in front of Cherry, and as he held her in his arms, he said in a tender

voice,"Are you tired? How about we go to bed and rest now?"

"I'll take a bath first and then go to sleep," answered Cherry.

"Okay, then I'll go to read a book in the study. Go to bed if you're sleepy," said Jackson.

After he saw Cherry walk into the bathroom, Jackson went to his study.

Actually, Jackson didn't read a book in the study, and instead talked with Derek over the phone.

Derek's voice sounded clear in Jackson's ears though the speaker. "Jackson, your nephew's party is

set at 8 p.m. the day after tomorrow," he said.

Jackson thought that John, as the Governor of the city, must have made some arrangements for the

party. He knew that all of the elites from the business, political, and military circles would participate,

especially the ones from the business circle, and he guessed that perhaps more than half of the

attendees would be businessmen.

"Alright. We'll arrive there before 8 p.m; it's not necessary to get there too early," calmly said Jackson.

Derek then replied,"Okay. Jackson, you told me to handle the bank business; whose name should it be

on the title?"

"Your sister-in-law," said Jackson without any sort of hesitation. Cherry was the only person that he

could think of.

"Why not Joe?" asked Derek. He couldn't think of a reason as to why Joe's name couldn't be written on

it.

"In my heart, your sister-in-law is the most important," said Jackson firmly. Although he also loved his

son, his wife was already an indispensable part of his life.

"Okay," replied Derek.

Suddenly, Jackson thought of something, and he asked,"Has the butler's bank account been frozen

yet?"

"Not yet, but if you give an order, he won't be able to withdraw a single penny," said Derek.

Jackson continued to ask,"Have you finished handling all the other affairs?"

"Yes, all has been handled."

"Derek, I have a strange feeling about this party. Something will happen!" said Jackson, suddenly

worried.

Derek's voice also sounded a little nervous, and said,"Jackson, Mond will certainly appear by then."

"I'm not worried about seeing him, I'm afraid that something unexpected will happen." After a while,

Jackson continued to say,"And I'm most worried about your sister-in-law."

"Are you afraid that Cherry would find out something?" asked Derek.

"Yes, and perhaps Jean will also show up. Wherever Mond is, disaster follows," said Jackson.

Derek paused for a while to think, and then said,"Some things and some people have to be faced if

they have to, but Jackson, if my sister-in-law finds out about something, you'd better be prepared

mentally."

After he heard what Derek said, Jackson had no idea of what he should reply to him.

After he hung up, Jackson sat on his chair in the study and stared at the things in front of him in a daze.

He knew that all the things that were happening now were the consequences of past events, but how

could he avoid these consequences?

Jackson didn't know for how long he had stayed in the study, but when he returned to the room, he saw

that Cherry had already fallen asleep. Jackson changed into his pajamas and lay in the bed, holding

Cherry tightly in his arms.

After Cherry vaguely felt Jackson's hand, she buried her head into Jackson's arms, and in a gentle

voice, said,"Let's sleep, I'm very tired."

"Okay, sleep well," said Jackson, as he kissed her on her forehead and then also closed his eyes to

sleep.

The following morning after breakfast, Joe stood in front of his Mommy and Daddy, and said,"Mommy, I

want you to drive me to school today!"

"Isn't Bill the one who drives you to school?" asked Cherry.Jackson had told Bill the other afternoon to

drive Joe to school in the morning, but why did Joe ask his mother to do that today?

"I don't want to go in Uncle Bill's car, I want in your car!" said Joe, with a bright smile on his face.

Cherry and Jackson looked at each other for a moment and Cherry eventually agreed. She said to

Joe,"Okay, I'll drive you to school today. Go and get your schoolbag."

"Yeah!" happily screamed Joe while he quickly went to fetch his schoolbag.

Jackson then looked at Cherry, and said,"You drive our son to school, and I'll go to the barracks."

"Okay, go ahead and do your business," said Cherry, nodding to him.

While Cherry was driving the car, she found that there was something odd about Joe.

She asked him,"Joe, why did you suddenly ask me to drive you to school?" She thought that Joe must

have had something to tell her.

Joe looked ahead and seemed to be thinking of something. He then suddenly turned his head to

Cherry, and said,"Mommy, did you tell Daddy about what I told you last night?"

After she heard this, Cherry was a little surprised. She didn't know why her son would ask her such a

question, so she answered him,"No. Why are you asking me that?"

After he found out that his Mommy hadn't told his Daddy, Joe felt relieved, and cheerfully said,"That's

good!"

Cherry was a little confused by his words, and asked,"What's up? Don't you want your Daddy to know

this?"
