Chapter 16 The Truth He Perceived
Chapter 16 The Truth He Perceived
She didn’t know why he insisted that she escaped prison five years ago. Belle Ye didn’t ask or let alone explain. she had buried this man deep in her memories in the past five years, but now that he reappeared again, the only thing she could do was pressed her hatred and acted like nothing happened.
Of course, that was what she thought.
She wanted to escape, but Ethan Mo had brought her to this place. Judging from Echo Xu’s attitude, Ethan Mo was probably the owner of the club or else, he was probably a major shareholder. Belle Ye didn’t know he owned a nightclub business before. He had become more and more unpredictable these past few years. She couldn’t imagine how powerful he was now.
Just as he walked toward the door, she asked him out of blue.
Why did he hold her captive? Why not just sent her to prison and let her rot there? Why did he insist that she escaped prison? Why didn’t he think that she was actually sold?
Belle Ye smiled wryly. Did she have any hope left? She was just casually asking, but she didn’t hope for an answer.
Ethan Mo looked back coldly, “You can kill your best friend and her child. Why can’t you escape prison?”
She learned that she fell from the clouds to hell.
Was that how the outside world perceive her? Everyone thought she was selfish killer because she bumped her car into May Ning and she lost her child because of the accident. The decided not to confess and chose to escape from the prison.
She took a deep breath, only then she knew it was difficult for her to breathe.
After Ethan Mo left, Echo Xu looked up at the woman who dared to challenge the big boss. Echo Xu quivered. She heard too much that she dared not remember that conversation. She remembered her boss’ warning eyes. She told herself not to talk too much and to mind her own business.
Echo Xu worked for the underground city club for four years now. She came from the neighboring city. When she came here, Belle Ye already left. She didn’t know what happen five years ago. However, she sensed that this matter was very serious. She was even more curious about Belle Ye’s identity, but the more curious she was, the more she could control the information that she shouldn’t know.
“My name is Echo Xu. I’m the supervisor here. You can call me Sister Xu.” Echo Xu walked approaching Belle Ye. She was secretly looking at her carefully. She didn’t know what to say.
The customers were not taking pretty girls home, but why did the boss put this ugly woman under her responsibility?
But, after watching carefully, she could see that Belle Ye was not ugly. She didn’t know how much and what she went through that she became like this. Her small face was gaunt and yellowish. Her skin was dry and cracked. The scars on her forehead was showing. The scars were irregular in shape. Some were deep, some were shallow. The cuts looked like scars from knife or something. Looking at her injured face, Echo Xu’s face turned pale. She wanted to say something, but she couldn’t.
Another impression she had from Belle Ye was that she was really thin. She was nearly 1.7 meters tall, but she was too skinny and her back slightly bent like a bamboo pole. Her body was wrapped in a loose and long linen clothes with high collar hiding her prominent jaw. She wore her hair loose and her bony ankle was wearing a black shoes covered in muds.
Was this girl come from a slum area somewhere? Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Echo Xu had never seen a woman like her in person. She only saw the people living in slum areas on TV. Those people faced a harsh living condition since they were born, but despite the hardships, they
learned to be strong.
But, the woman in front of her looked worse, like she was being tortured and trampled. Echo Xu felt that the woman kept her poise well, better than herself. She sensed a vicious and dead silence she had never encounter before.
“Your…” she wanted to ask how her face became like this, but she knew that appearance mattered for woman. If she asked, she would only sprinkle salt on her already existing wound. She changed her question, “What’s wrong with your foot? Is there something wrong with it?”
Belle Ye stared at her and replied lightly, “I broke it before, but I didn’t pay much attention to it.”
Listening to Belle Ye’s light answer, Echo Xu frowned her perfectly drawn eyebrows and looked down, “You may be suffering from inflammation. You should go to the hospital or else, you will have trouble walking.”
Boss had handed the woman to her. She couldn’t let her be out of her sight in the future.
“No need. It’s been like this for years.”
Her bullies caused her to break her right leg. Ryan Du applied some herb on it, but she didn’t get a proper treatment. Now, years had passed and she had no hope for this leg anymore.
Echo Xu sighed sadly. She had come across a bunch of people with bitter stories. She had seen people facing toss and turns and came out numb.
But, she didn’t feel sympathy for Belle Ye. She felt that Belle Ye was having a hard time getting away from here. Unfortunately, the road ahead was long and thorny. How far could Belle Ye go?
Echo Xu knew that the people who got into trouble with Ethan Mo usually wouldn’t live long.
“Sister Xu, what should I do?” they were silent for a long time. Belle Ye was afraid to speak that her voice cracked. Echo Xu frowned, “Have you ever had a vocal cord injuries?” if Echo Xu didn’t listen to her carefully, she wouldn’t catch what she was saying.
Belle Ye’s eyes darkened as she nodded, “I hurt myself before.”
“You’re too careless. You should know how to protect yourself.” Echo Xu said. She had never seen a woman disregarding her own body.
Belle Ye nodded and said nothing else.
She also wanted to protect herself and her body. No one knew better than her.
However, she had no choice. Her bullies forced her to stuff cigarette butts into her mouth. She resisted. Her bullies were angry and forcefully choke her with it. They also broke one leg. She remembered the pain she suffered from swallowing it. She remembered how her leg was broken. That time, she felt that death was a nicer option.
The theory said this, but reality said that. Theory was not always right and people couldn’t run away from cruelty. That’s called life.
