Lenny and Scarlett

Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Scarlet nestled weakly in Lenny's arms. He gave off a faint, minty fragrance. He smelled just like he did

when they slept together that night.

Lenny didn't like wearing men's perfume. His scent was from his body wash.

Without saying a word, he took Scarlet upstairs and got a ward for her. When he was about to call a

doctor to check on her, she stopped him.

"No, thanks. I'm fine. I'm just exhausted and need to rest."

"But you don't look too good."

"It doesn't matter. I know my body very well. I don't need a doctor." Scarlet stopped Lenny again, afraid

that he would find out about the baby.

What if it turned out that he also wanted her to get an abortion?

She was so scared that she curled up on the bed and watched Lenny vigilantly. Now, she didn't trust

anyone but herself.

Seeing the uneasy look on her face, Lenny could tell that Scarlet was being alert and stubborn out of

fear. She was like a frightened little animal in the jungle that had no means of protecting itself and was

always on guard against everything it encountered because it was afraid of getting hurt.

Seeing her hug her shins and avoid his gaze, Lenny couldn't help feeling a bit sorry for his ex-wife.

"Why did they take you here?"

He decided not to force her to see a doctor and changed the subject.

"I... I don't know..." Scarlet stammered. NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.

Lenny could tell that she was in a dilemma, so he didn't ask further after that.

Since they were already divorced, there was no need for him to inquire about his ex-wife's trifles.

However, they still used to be a couple, and Scarlet had been an obedient wife to him, which stirred his

sympathy. He said, "If the Brown family comes and bothers you again, you can come to me, okay?"

Scarlet nodded. Although Lenny appeared domineering and heartless, he actually was a very warm

and kind-hearted man.

He married her because he wanted his mother to live a better life in the Foster family. He helped her

now for the sake of their previous marriage.

Just then, someone called out to Lenny.

Scarlet looked up and saw the petite girl, the one that Lenny brought to the villa.

"Rosaline. What are you doing here?"

Drake answered for the girl with embarrassment, "Miss Marshall refused to receive treatment without

you, sir, so I had no choice but to..."

"I'm scared, Lenny. I'm so scared..."

At that moment, Rosaline trotted over and plunged into Lenny's arms. He was stiff, and his hands froze

around her waist. For a moment, he didn't know what to do.

He wasn't into hugging people that much, especially women.

Earlier, when Scarlet ran to him, embracing her felt natural to him. But now, with Rosaline, he felt

uncomfortable. He frowned slightly.

After a long while of standing still, Lenny raised his hand and stroked Rosaline's hair. "Don't be afraid.

I'm here."

"Can you accompany me? Please."

"Okay."

Lenny looked back at Scarlet.

She forced a smile and nodded as if she didn't mind it at all. "Go ahead. Thank you for your help today.

I really appreciate it."

Lenny dipped his chin in acknowledgement and left with Rosaline.

While Scarlet was watching them leave, Rosaline suddenly turned to look at her.

When their eyes met, Scarlet felt an indescribable feeling. Her heart fluttered slightly. She felt that the

girl's stare was coming from a place of dissatisfaction and resentment.

The next second, Scarlet shook her head and immediately dismissed the thought. Maybe she was just

imagining things.

When Drake was about to follow Lenny and Rosaline out, Scarlet stopped him.

"Mr. Cooper."

"Yes, Miss Brown?"

Drake wasn't familiar with Scarlet. He had only met her as many times as his boss did.

Scarlet always made the people around her feel comfortable. She was quiet and reserved and wouldn't

disturb others for her own personal concerns.

Her eyes were beautiful, clear, and bright.

"Who is she?"

"She was brought home by Mr. Foster from abroad."

"Is... Is Lenny going to marry her?"
