Let’s Rewrite Our Love Story, Ms Summer Frost

CHAPTER 4

CHAPTER 4

Summer Frost POV

Xander was still looking the same way as before. He was still that handsome man I married eight years ago. The sparkles in his charming brown eyes were still there. He was still the definition of perfection, just like eight years ago. Even after so many years, I was disappointed in myself that my heart still yearned for him.

“Summer?” He called for the second time as he finally walked up to me. By then, the doctor had led the little girl away and we were now left alone along the walkway. The shock on his face as he saw me was a priceless and satisfying one.

“It’s really you… It’s you, Summer,” I thought he was going to snap at me the moment he saw me, but his reaction was rather confusing and shocking. He looked excited as though he had been looking for me long, but I knew that couldn’t be the case. I tried to reach out to him severally until he blocked me, so it couldn’t have been the case. I was sure of it..

His fingers trembled as he raised his hand to my face, but I stepped away from him just before his hand could touch me.

“T

“Excuse me? Who are you?” I was satisfied by the look on his face when I denied knowing him. I didn’t know how to react, so pretending not to know him was the only thing that came to my mind.

“Wh…what are you saying?” He huffed and blinked his eyes a few times.

“Summer… It’s me, Xander. I’m sure you know me,” He touched his chest and raised his eyebrows.

“Of course, I’m not so daft to have forgotten the bastard who accused me of cheating and threw me out in the middle of the night to freeze to death,” I meant to say to him, but I held myself back and just forced a small smile.

“I’m sorry, Mr… I’m sure you must’ve mistaken me for someone else. My name is Summer, but i don’t think I’ve seen this face before,” I shook my head, and he huffed.

“It’s me, Summer… It’s me, your husband,” Those words from him made me almost lose it. I tightened my fingers into a fist and bit my inner lip as waves of anger spurred through me.

“I’m sorry, Mr. But I don’t have a husband,”

“Summer…”

“Ma’am, are you d

done?” I was glad when I heard Miguel’s voice, so I turned around and found him walking toward me.

“Yes, Miguel. The surgery was successful,” I smiled at Miguel. I couldn’t hide my identity any longer since he already found out that I was the surgeon he had been trying to reach.

“The car is ready. We should head back home. Your Dad must be waiting for you,” Miguel uttered, and I nodded. Turning back to Xander, I found him staring in confusion.

“Excuse me,” I was about to leave when he held my hand and pulled me back.

“You are messing with me, right? You are Summer… There is no way you just look like her. You are really Summer Frost, aren’t you?” His grip around my hand tightened as his brown eyes pierced into

mine, and for a moment I almost gave myself away to him but I was able to control it.

“Hmph! Hey! You are harassing me. I’m going to call the police on you,” I yanked his hand off and stepped away from him.

“Summ…” He tried to touch me again, but this time, Miguel held my hand and pulled or behind him. He stood in front of me and glared

“I won’t have you harass my boss, young man. She said she is not the Summer you know, so you should respect and stop postering her,” Miguel stood up for me, and Xander huffed.

“Let’s go,” I held Miguel’s hand and pulled him with me.

“Summer… Summer…” I heard Xander calling me as I walked down the walkway with Miguel, but I didn’t spare him a single glance.

We arrived at the parking lot later, and the ride home began.

I didn’t expect to have run into Xander just the next day of my coming home. This couldn’t just be a coincidence, right? What was he doing at the hospital?

“Why was Mr. Xander at the hospital?” I looked at Miguel and asked.

“I have no idea, ma’am. I think he is friends with Doctor Henry. He must’ve told him about your presence in the hospital,” I scoffed angrily as I looked out through the window. I already stated in my agreement with every doctor that my identity should be kept hidden and that man decided to breach it?

“Do you want him sued for breach of agreement?” He glanced at me through the mirror and asked.

“Cancel my partnership with the hospital. I won’t be performing surgery in the hospital anymore,” I stated to him; and he nodded.

“Ma’am, are you really not going to consider Mr. Xander? He seems to really be in need of…”

“I told you to stop talking about him. I won’t ever consider him,” I cut him off, and he nodded.

For years, I had managed to keep everything that happened between us a secret. I never told Mr. Cooper about it even though he had asked me severally about my husband. Why did I do that? Because I was protecting the bastard even after the pain he had caused me. I didn’t want Mr. Cooper to get revenge for me knowing he would destroy Xander’s family. Why was I protecting him? Of course, I was foolish to still be in love with him after everything he made me go through, and for that, I resented myself.

My phone’s ringing tone disrupted my thoughts and I swiped the screen of my phone after I checked the caller.

“We have been waiting to have breakfast with you, darling. Why are you not here yet?” Dad’s voice sounded from the other end.

“I’ll be home soon, Dad,”

“Hurry up, darling. Someone is here to see you,”

“Who is that?” I was forced to ask curiously as I wasn’t expecting anyone.

“You will find out when you come home,” The call ended afterward, leaving me dying of curiosity. I didn’t have an appointment with anyone, so who had come to see me?
