Lost and Found: Return of My Mysterious Fiancee

Chapter 662: Joshua Kidnapped, Grace Expelled from X Bureau

Three special forces members skillfully unlocked the chains around Joshua's waist, looking perplexed at the man before them.

"Captain, what are you doing?" The man was Nathan! "I received a last-minute notice to transfer the prisoner; you all head back to the bureau," he said, single-handedly hauling Joshua into a Bentley and speeding away.

The special forces members exchanged looks, clueless about what had just happened, but they had no choice but to obey their chief's orders and return. At X Bureau, Grace was idle, her facial scars mostly healed, revealing her basic features. Now powerless and unpopular at X Bureau, she could only sit bored in front of a computer screen. The computers at X Bureau were not allowed internet access; she couldn't even browse shopping sites. Her colleagues were no longer as polite as before, making her feel increasingly uncomfortable.

Fortunately, she was monitoring the signal of Joshua being taken away.

"Miss Hancock, please sign here," Nathan said, placing a sign-in book in front of Grace. This was now Grace's most daunting task. Looking at Nathan, a hint of hatred flashed in her eyes.

"You really went out of your way to bring this over personally."

"No trouble at all. I got no better things to do but just yawning all day anyway," Nathan said with a faint smile, standing in front of Grace.

His comment amused the colleagues nearby, who laughed out loud unintentionally. Grace, blushing deeply, signed her name on the sign-in book.

"Take it!" At that moment, the three special forces members who had escorted Joshua approached.

"Miss Hancock, he was taken away by our captain... Hey, Captain, what are you doing here?" Nathan was also startled.

"If I'm not here, where would I be? What about you guys, skipping training? What are you doing here?"

"We were following Miss Hancock's orders to escort Joshua, and wasn't he intercepted by you midway?" Nathan looked at his subordinates as if facing a major threat.

"What nonsense are you talking about? I've been in a meeting until just now, and I didn't even know you were supposed to be escorting any Joshua!" Grace exclaimed, "Then who did you hand Joshua over to?"

"Miss Hancock, shouldn't I be the one asking you that?" Nathan slammed the sign-in book down on the desk.

"Do you realize the level of security Joshua requires? If we were to transfer him, we'd need three armored vehicles and top-level protection, and I would need to accompany him. You sent just three men?"

Grace knew the rules, but she had wanted to keep things quiet, not expecting Joshua to be kidnapped. Could it be by her own master?

Trying to appear calm, Grace retorted, "I had headquarters' approval. What right do you have to question me? Shouldn't you be finding out who actually took Joshua?" Nathan snorted coldly and turned to leave. As he turned away, the anger on his face vanished.

After Nathan left, Grace immediately made a mysterious phone call. It took a long time for the other end to answer.

"Who allowed you to call me at this time?"

"It's not that, was Joshua taken by you?"

The person on the line paused, "Didn't I tell you to send him to the prison designated by the headquarters?"

"Yes, but halfway there, someone impersonating Nathan intercepted him. Was that your doing?"

"How could it be? When would I have the time to do such a thing? Besides, I'm currently in Clearwater!"

Grace was getting anxious, "Then... What should we do? He's gone now, and we don't even know who did that..."

Before Grace could finish, the door was suddenly kicked open, and an enraged voice bellowed, "Grace! Do you even know what you are doing? How dare you transfer such a crucial prisoner on your own? Is that thing around your neck useless?"

Linden kicked open the door of the secretary's office and stormed toward Grace. The person on the phone hung up immediately upon hearing the commotion. Terrified, Grace hid behind her chair, "I... I had permission from headquarters, I..."

"Headquarters, headquarters, fine, get back to headquarters now!" Linden retorted, ripping the badge from Grace's neck, "Leave now, and if I see you here in half an hour, you'll be the one sitting in jail instead of Joshua!" Overpowered by Linden's strength, Grace was flung out of the secretary's office.

She lay on the ground, utterly disheveled.

In a car on the outskirts of town.

Joshua lay in the back seat, writhing in agony from the poison Tina had administered. After struggling for a few minutes, he opened his eyes and looked at the driver. "Long time no see, my dear nephew."

The driver, supposedly Nathan, was actually Jared wearing Nathan's face.

Jared pulled off the mask and casually tossed it back, hitting Joshua on the head.

Joshua, too weak to remove the mask that hit his face, remarked, "After so long, uncle, I thought we could have a nice catch-up without the temper."

Jared ignored him and kept driving.

The suburban roads became more secluded, and not a soul was in sight. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

Finally managing to sit up in the back seat, the clinking of the iron locks on his wrists and ankles filled the air.

"What trouble you've gone to, where are you taking me?" Joshua asked, attempting to open a window for air, only to find it had been locked beforehand. Jared continued driving in silence until they reached a gate at the foot of a mountain.

The gate featured facial recognition technology.

Jared pressed Joshua's face against the camera.

With a beep, the gate unlocked.

Joshua laughed, "You've actually locked me up in the place where ck keeps their hostages, quite the thinker you are."

Jared, holding Joshua by the shoulders, walked him inside and locked him behind the first iron gate before turning to leave. "Jared, how's your grandfather doing? Is he well? Does he miss his favorite grandson?"

Jared paused, his suppressed anger bursting forth.

He stormed back and struck Joshua to the ground.

"You don't deserve to mention my grandfather! Keep your mouth shut!"

Seeing Jared's fury, Joshua chuckled as if he found it immensely entertaining.

"Jared, after all, he is my biological father. Can't I even ask about him?"

Joshua's chuckle was filled with derision, showing none of the longing a son should have. He was utterly insincere.
