Lily’s compromise
Lily
The only reason I walked up to him was because of this business’s image. So many thoughts going through my head and all of them were against my going to meet him. What’s the worst that can happen anyway?
I dropped his order on his table but he refused.
“I want to see Jacek. Bring him and I’ll accept” He had a grin on his face whilst smacking his lips; they looked good tho… Oh no! Back to the present lily!
“Jacek? I’m not bringing my child to see you. What has he got to do with this??” I was getting frustrated, so I breathed out and said;
“Look Mr Cayden, this is my place of work and that’s it, whatever you’re looking for, you’ve gotta find somewhere else, respectfully” I really hoped that didn’t sound like it did in my head; like a threat.
“I just want to see him, that’s all. I promise I’m not up to any funny business. C’mon, let me see him”
Why the hell is this man choosing to get on my nerves? I could feel fumes coming out of my and in a bid to not lose my anger, I stormed out and went into the bakery and let off some steam, literally.
What hell has followed me these past days? I just want him to go away as soon as possible so I can have my life back!
“Mama!” Jacek called as he ran down the stairs happily, I need some of this innocent happiness in my life right now.
“Hey, candy! How are you doing?” I asked as a drew him in for a very tight and close hug
“I’m fine and I want a cupcake!” He raised his hand, making a fist as if protesting.
“Baby, you’re not even brushed and you can’t have that for breakfast. You need real food so that you’ll grow up healthy like Nana” I said, laughing.
“Okay mama” I kissed him on the cheek and ruffled through his hair with my fingers.
“Lily” Jarod rushed with fear in his eyes “That rude man is causing trouble in the bakery. You need to hurry”
“What?” I asked with a high pitched voice, surprised as I run out to see what’s happening.
Cayden is talking with people he gathered from “only God knows where” Agreeing on a mysterious topic I know nothing about. I was surprised. Is he trying to take my business? Just because I didn’t let him see Jacek? Crazy! He did have good people skills and how he gathered this many people is alarming.
I guess I’ll just have to give in to his request and stop this from going further than it should. I went back into the room.
“Jacek, Cayden is around…”
“Yay!!! Where’s he, mum? Please can I see him?” I stared at my child, jealous that he likes someone else and wondering what makes him like Cayden so much.
“Yes baby, you’ll see him in a bit” He jumped up excitedly and I placed my hand on his shoulder to calm him down.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
“I just need you to take this tray of biscuits to him,” I said, putting the biscuits in a tray and handing them over to Jacek.
“OK mama” He took the tray from my hand and took it straight to Cayden.
“Hello, uncle Cayden” Cayden looked in my direction and gave a wicked smile. He then took the tray from Jacek, raised him fondly and settled him on his lap.
He disbanded the gathering and they went away. Peace was finally restored. Maybe I should have just brought Jacek out earlier to avoid all this drama cause this guy is a piece of work and he isn’t worth it.
He kept Jacek busy. I could hear their laughter and could tell they were having fun. I delivered his order and I prepared it personally, of course trying to make sure nothing goes wrong with his food.
He wanted a chicken burger with coke and some fries. This was one of my easy meals to make. With how much I loved baking, I didn’t like to stand for a long time, it was really tiring. I work hard but when the sharp pain comes, I grab a chair and sit to avoid any complications.
I walked to his table and served him his breakfast.
“You can sit and join us if you want..” He said, pointing to the chair opposite him.
“No thanks, I’m busy and have to get back to work”
“Alright then” I walked back to the counter and watched them from there. I was counting the minutes until he left cause I needed his claws off my child.
He did have really nice hair and the bass in his voice was appealing. I didn’t like the fact that he always showed off his wealth but what you do expect when you’re rich like that?
“I’m sorry you had to send Jacek off to him, I know you didn’t want that,” Jarod said with his hand on my shoulder.
“It’s fine, I guess. It’s not like he can kidnap my child anyway. He seems really fond of him and I’ve got my eyes on him” I pointed my index and middle finger at myself and then at Cayden, laughing. I can’t even believe I’m suddenly calm at this development. I guess he’s proved himself enough to be fond of my child and I know he won’t hurt Jacek and nothing more; nothing more.
I take my focus on the orders and deliveries we have to make for the day, going through the log book and signing the already packaged pastries.
While I wasn’t looking, Cayden tipped me by giving Jacek back the money and dropping him off with Jarod when I wasn’t looking. I only knew because Jarod told me this. I need to know what Cayden’s intentions are because I can’t let this proud man think that I could be one of his concubines.
