Love Burned, She Rose Unscathed

Chapter 429

Maisie and Farley had been shadowing Murray, wary of being spotted. They were too far away to see anything clearly, wishing for a pair of binoculars to magically appear in their hands.

One thing was crystal clear though - Murray had found himself a new flame!

No wonder he ditched Millie!

For the past month, Maisie and Farley had been living the high life, courtesy of the Sherwood family. Beverley had catered to their every whim, making their days incredibly comfortable.

So comfortable, in fact, they dreaded returning to their previous life of scraping by.

After all, with the money they were after, they wouldn't have to worry for the rest of their lives.

Just when Beverley seemed at her breaking point, the two decided it was time to grab the cash and run.

But when Maisie hit Beverley with a demand for fifty million, Beverley looked like she'd seen a ghost. She was so shocked, she couldn't speak for a full minute.

When she figured out Maisie wasn't kidding, Beverley lost it, laughing sarcastically, "Fifty million? In your dreams!" and then she stormed off. After that, Beverley cut off all contact with Maisie, drying up their financial wellspring and leaving them high and dry.

Realizing they might have pushed too far, they considered lowering their ask.Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

"Mom, how about... we ask for five million instead?"

After some hesitation, Maisie bit the bullet, "Fine, five million it is!"

But Beverley wouldn't even take Maisie's calls anymore, completely washing her hands of them.

The shareholders' meeting was over, so there was no need to keep appeasing these greedy two.

Seeing Beverley's firm stance, Maisie and Farley turned their sights back to Murray. However, with his bodyguards and heightened security, getting close to him was impossible.

They resorted to staking out and following him, and their patience paid off when they caught a glimpse of who they thought was his new fling. Just as Maisie was planning to get a closer look, her phone rang. Annoyed, she ducked behind a tree to answer, "Hello?!"

"Mom, where are you and Farley? Why haven't you visited me? I've been alone in the hospital. Don't you care at all?"

After moving out of the hospital

room, Maisie and Farley hadn't gone back to see Millie. She was always difficult, causing her condition to worsen. So after a month, she was still hospitalized.

A nurse, seeing Millie getting worked up, quickly took the phone, "Are you Millie's family? She's very unstable right now. You need to come to the hospital!"

Maisie didn't want to go. She had

gotten used to luxury hotels, and the hospital's antiseptic smell repulsed her. But then she thought about the money, about how crucial Millie was to their plans with the Sherwood family, and decided she had to go.

"My sister's living it up in that fancy hospital, and she's still making a fuss? Some people just don't know how good they have it," Farley muttered. Some people were just never satisfied, always causing drama.

Maisie agreed, "Exactly! Your sister has no clue. We're doing all this running around for her benefit, and she can't even appreciate it. Instead, she's making things worse..."

When they arrived at the hospital, Millie almost cried seeing her mom and brother, "Mom, Farley, why did it take you so long? I thought you'd forgotten about me..."

Maisie pressed a finger to Millie's

el

forehead, exasperated, "Stop crying! Your brother and I have been negotiating with the Sherwood family, trying to get Murray to acknowledge you. We've been working our butts off for you, and all you do is throw tantrums. How did I end up with such a thoughtless daughter?"

Millie pouted, rubbing her forehead, "How was I supposed to know if you didn't tell me?"
