Chapter 75
Chapter 75
Merry? Impossible!
Hayley gasped in disbelief, “Assistant Director, that’s Leila Jordan. Did you get the name wrong?”
The assistant director looked at the group and explained, “Leila’s image doesn’t quite fit the role, so we ultimately decided to go with Merry.”
Leila and Juliana wanted to protest, but the assistant director cut them off, “Alright, the rest of you can leave. Merry, you stay behind. I’ll have someone walk you through the script. We start shooting tomorrow!”
Merry tensed up upon hearing this.
Staying behind meant facing her idol, didn’t it? Nervously, she grabbed Cordelia, who was about to leave, as if clinging to a lifeline, “Lia, wait for me!”
Cordelia was at a loss for words.
“So boring! If only I had brought a SAT exercises to pass the time.” Cordelia thought.
Luckily, Bland had scenes to shoot and had to leave early, so Merry could relax a bit. During the script run–through, Merry, who was usually not the academic type, paid close attention.
She had no choice. Acting alongside her idol, she couldn’t afford to drag him down!
The assistant director was pleasantly surprised by her quick grasp of the material. Once finished, he couldn’t help but ask, “Have you ever considered pursuing a career in entertainment?
Merry was taken aback, asking incredulously, “Can I do that?”
The assistant director nodded, “I think you should consider applying to the Ontoky City Film and Animation Academy.”
The idea intrigued Merry. If she got into the entertainment industry, wouldn’t that mean she could act with her idol more than just this once?
But her grades were dismal.
Sighing, Merry turned to share her thoughts with Lia, only to find Cordelia muttering something under her breath, Listening carefully, she realized Cordelia was reciting the poem.
Merry was surprised.
Suddenly, she felt a newfound motivation to study!!
If worse came to worst, she’d enroll in a tutoring class. She couldn’t keep living aimlessly. After all, everyone needed a goal, right?
Back in the classroom, Cordelia packed her bag, ready to leave, when she saw Merry stuffing books into her backpack haphazardly. Finally, she shoved them all in, hoisted the heavy bag, and followed Cordelia out with a look of noble sacrifice.
That evening at home, Cordelia continued to plow through practice problems.
It wasn’t until she was about to sleep that she realized she hadn’t received a reply to her message to Mr.
All–Round.
She rolled over, picked up her phone, and looked at their last conversation.
Mr. All–Round asked, “Is your boyfriend not treating you well?”
LearnLover replied, “It’s not that, it’s just that it feels like a waste of study time. Plus, I don’t want to be forced into a relationship.”
Usually, he replied instantly and with advice. Had she said something wrong? Why was he ignoring her?

Lying in her soft bed, Cordelia stared at her phone, feeling for the first time that her teacher might be upset

Cordelia edited the message to Mr. All–Round, “Are you asleep?”
She was just about to send, but stopped the action.
It was twelve o’clock. Mr. All–Round was so old, should he rest early? it was too bad for her to disturb each other like this.
Cordelia was about to put down her mobile phone when a message suddenly appeared in the chat box.
Mr. All–Round asked, “Stay up so late?”
Cordelia was slightly confused. How did Mr. All–Round know that she was not asleep?
But she didn’t think much about it but just thought it was a coincidence. She simply typed and asked, “Did my question today make you unhappy?”
Cordelia was straightforward, preferring to ask rather than guess.
Mr. All–Round replied, “No, I want to tell you something.”
Cordelia was perplexed.
Mr. All–Round continued, “When you can’t refuse, try to enjoy being in love!”
Cordelia pondered over these words for a long time, finding wisdom in them.
Life was full of inevitabilities. If something couldn’t be changed, she might as well make herself comfortable. Hadn’t she done just that in the orphanage? Why was it that with this man, she felt a sense of reluctance?
She texted back, “You’re right.”
If she couldn’t change things, she would embrace the experience of dating Everard. As long as he hadn’t hurt her so far, she would give it a try!
With her mind clear, Cordelia fell asleep quickly.
The next day, she entered Midnight Scent with a more relaxed air than before, carrying three breakfasts.
She looked at Everard, taking him in.
The weather had cooled, and he had swapped his black shirt for a thicker hoodie, which gave him a youthful vibe and made his pale skin stand out even more.
His brows were sharp, adding an edge to his refined features. His nose was straight and seemed perfect for a skateboard trick.
Setting aside her preconceptions, she had to admit Everard was incredibly handsome, not a bit less attractive than Bland, the face–made–for–the–camera star.
Dating him didn’t seem like such a bad deal.

Caught under her intense gaze, Everard, aware of her change of heart, teased, “What are you looking at, girl?”
Cordelia bluntly replied, “Looking at how handsome you are.”
Calvert was speechless. PDA again!
Everard quirked his eyebrows, apparently not expecting such candor, but he leaned forward nonchalantly. resting his chin on his hand, “Help yourself.”
Calvert rolled his eyes.
Cordelia, however, promptly looked away, “Let’s eat first.”
Everard’s laughter was deep and seductive, “Sure, we have all the time in the world.”
After breakfast, Cordelia took his hand. Indeed, without the resistance, she felt the turmoil in her chest settle down more quickly than before.
After she was fully recovered, she stood up, popped on her baseball cap, and slung her backpack over her shoulder, making her way toward the exit. Just as she reached the doorway, she paused and spun around, her large and misty eyes locking onto Everard. “Honey, if you’re ever short on cash for a meal, just let me know.”
She was loaded!
Everard, caught off guard, soon burst into a chuckle. “Sure.”
Had he known Cordelia was so quick on the uptake, he would have played his teacher card sooner to get through to her!
Cordelia walked with a spring in her step toward school, but as she entered the classroom, she found it in total disarray.
,
Merry, unusually bare–faced, was sitting at her desk crying, both hands wrapped in bandages, a hint of blood seeping through….
Hayley was tossing out snide remarks with aplomb, “Alas, some people just aren’t cut out for it.” Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
Leila was also there, standing amidst the chaos of their class, letting out a sigh. “Ash, the assistant director just got in touch with me. They’ve asked me to stand in for you. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of your idol for
you.”
