Madelyn watched as large water droplets fell onto the blanket. The orange wedges in Stella’s hand were squeezed dry.
Madelyn wanted to comfort Stella but didn’t know what to say. She had seen the harsh realities of familial bonds, but Stella’s suffering was far more
ound and terrifying than Madelyn had ever imagined.
Stella said, “The Olivers knew about Robert and Abigall’s relationship all those years, but they kept it from my mom.”
Upon hearing this, Madelyn felt a pang of sympathy for her. She could imagine the pain and despair that Kayla must have endured back then.
Stella’s gaze was clear as she looked at Madelyn. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.
She said, “Do you know why Carrie and I used to dislike you so much?”
Madelyn remained silent and met Stella’s gaze.
Stella continued, “Andrew has been so good to you. He’s given you everything. He hasn’t looked at anyone else since you two got together. That’s rare in high society, but you didn’t appreciate it.”
“I appreciate it now!” Madelyn interjected.
They locked eyes and couldn’t help but share a smile.
Stella nodded and said, “Yeah. It’s good that you’ve come around. If you had really lost Andrew, you’d be the one crying.”
Madelyn felt a dull ache in her heart.
She didn’t need to lose him to know that kind of regret because she had already experienced it once in her previous life. She wouldn’t let things veer off course this time.
Many aspects of her life had clearly been turned around in recent times. At least Easton and Elena were no longer likely to stir up trouble. However, there was one thing she needed to be especially cautious of.
Based on Madelyn’s experience in her previous life, she knew that Easton would kidnap her in a month’s
time.
Madelyn wondered if Easton, whose trajectory in this lifetime had already been altered, would still be that insane. However, she was uncertain.
In her previous life, Easton had gained control of Athena’s shares, which he used in an attempt to take over Miller Group.
However, he had lost those shares in this life and was cornered into a dead end. He might resort to even more desperate measures.
In any case, Madelyn resolved to stay vigilant.
After chatting with Stella for some time, Madelyn noticed it was time for her scheduled doctor’s appointment. Hence, she headedêtraight to the outpatient building.
Brianna reviewed Madelyn’s test results and said, “Your condition isn’t severe. Take medication for two weeks and come back for a follow–up.”
“Not severe?” Madelyn questioned.
“Yes, it’s not. With some adjustments, you won’t need surgery,” Brianna reassured her while writing at

prescription.
Madelyn heaved a sigh of relief at the news of not requiring surgery.
She felt that any ailment not requiring surgery wasn’t too serious.
So when Brianna said this, her worries eased slightly.
*Alright. You can go get your medication,” Brianna said
“Thank you, Dr. Barton.”
“You’re welcome. Remember to take the medicine on time.”
Madelyn nodded. Regardless, that day’s check–up was a piece of good news for her.

She descended from the specialist outpatient area and unconsciously stepped out of the elevator on the third floor, passing through the pediatric Intensive care unit.
Suddenly.
she witnessed a swarm of nurses and doctors rush into Serena’s ward. Shortly after, she was wheeled out on a gurney with Melinda trailing behind the nurses and doctors.
She sobbed uncontrollably.
“Rena, you have to hang on. I can’t lose you.”
Madelyn’s heart skipped a beat as she followed them.
Serena was swiftly taken into the emergency room, leaving Melinda trembling and despairing at the doorway. Melinda cried inconsolably.
