Chapter 48 Kylie’s Grudge
The air seemed to stand still.
The questions were still coming. Blanca didn’t speak. She pinched her thigh surreptitiously, and the pain brought tears into her eyes.
She faced the camera, cutting a pitiable figure. “I don’t know why Kylie said those things about me. She liked Todd, so I let her have him. With what she’s doing now, does she want me to give her Matthew too?”
At that, every reporter sucked in a cold breath.
She’d been pretty to begin with, now with her tears, she looked like a flower swaying in the wind and sleet, about to fall. Blanca held on with feigned anxiety to Matthew’s sleeve, acting like she was a bullied, frightened victim.
Seeing the reporters taken aback, she pressed her advantage. “Who hasn’t got a past? Did you all grow up with a silver spoon in your mouth, smooth sailing all the way? I experienced darkness and the filth of human nature, but then I met Matthew… he rescued me from the pain of heartbreak, and no girl could have resisted a man like this, right? Why are you still chasing after us when we’re in love?”
“So… did Kylie steal your boyfriend?”
The reporter’s question put a bitter smile on Blanca’s face. She suddenly faced the camera and said seriously, “Kylie, let’s let the past be the past, okay? Since you like Todd, I’ll give him to you, and we’ll still be best friends forever, okay?”Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Flash-
Under the camera bulbs, the scene was recorded for posterity.
In a certain apartment for two in Oakshire, Kylie watched Blanca’s live interview and was about to spit out blood!
When did this little bitch grow such a sharp tongue?
The door to the room was suddenly kicked open. Kylie looked up with displeasure, seeing Todd holding a beer bottle as he staggered into the doorway. His shirt was dirty, and his hair was messing.
Seeing him in such a state, Kylie got mad. “What are you doing back? Don’t you have overtime today?”
“Heh, overtime, eh?”
Todd walked in and smashed the bottle on the table, staring with bloodred eyes at Kylie, who trembled and stammered, “What are you doing?”
“What am I doing? I’d like to ask you what the hell you’re doing? Have I not been good to you, Kylie? You wanted to get married, so I went and registered with you without saying a word about it. Your mother wanted a house, and have I done you wrong? I bought this and just managed to pay the first mortgage and emptying my parents’ savings. I’ve bought you all the trinkets and jewelry you wanted. Why are you doing this to me?”
Todd smashed the bottle angrily onto the ground next. With a crash, Kylie hugged her head, looking at him in shock. “Have – have you gone crazy?”
“These days are done. If it hadn’t been for you, I wouldn’t have gotten fired!” Todd’s gaze was splintering.
He’d just showed up at work that morning when his boss called him into the office and spoke roundaboutly that he’d like him to resign. Todd had been confused instantly. Resign? Why?
He’d started working at this company right after graduation, so why should he resign?
Then his boss had told him that he was a popular figure now.
And all that was thanks to his stay-at-home wife, Kylie Farley!
