Mr Grant, Please Be Gentle

Chapter 96 Don’t respect me enough

Blanca looked at Matthew with particular displeasure. He had known all of this already but he hadn’t warned her in advance. He was the one who made her totally blindsided.

“Even if I told you in advance, what else could you do?” said Matthew contemptuously, not looking up from his computer.

Upon hearing this, Blanca was too incensed to speak and turned scarlet with suppressed rage. “You don’t respect me enough, Matthew!” Blanca said at last.

At this moment, Matthew finished his work and closed the laptop. His movement was full of grace. “But the question is, what do you think the respect should be?” said Matthew casually. It was then that his gaze fell upon Blanca. The lady in front of him was gazing at him with her great beautiful eyes. Frustration was manifest on her pink face. Matthew felt the anger in her, but he had no idea what he had done wrong. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

Matthew’s indifferent attitude made Blanca even angrier. She was his wife in name only and knew exactly that Matthew did not love her, but she still got upset why Matthew hadn’t told her something so important. At the thought, she summoned the courage to challenge him, “You already knew Grandpa would ask me to manage the Grant family. Why didn’t you tell me earlier? Or ask my opinion about it?”

“Well. Now I ask you, would you like to manage the Grant family?” Matthew said.

“No!” Blanca replied simply.

“Do you want to work in my company?”

“Yes.” Blanca answered the question without thinking.

Matthew lifted the corners of his mouth slightly. “So, why are you upset?” he asked, in his deep mellifluous voice.

“I’m not upset about that,” Blanca muttered to Matthew, casting him a dark look. she was completely puzzled by his reaction. It seemed like he could do almost everything, but why such a big boss didn’t even catch the point of this conversation. It’s the fact that he never treated her with respect that bothered her.

Evidently, for Blanca, there was no use in saying more about it. She sat back comfortably with her eyes closed, and did not speak again.

Matthew didn’t know anything about her thoughts. He looked at Blanca in silence for a while and said, “Actually, you can manage our Grant family if you want.”

“Come on. I have absolutely no interest at all.” Blanca opened her eyes and gazed at Matthew. Grievance was clearly written on her cute little face. In fact, she had never won Matthew in an argument. So, she gave up and changed the subject. “Why did you agree with me to work in you company today?” she asked with a twist of her mouth. She had told him several times about it, but he disagreed each time. In Matthew’s mind, the only proper workplace for women was their home and naturally they shouldn’t look for a job outside their home after they got married. That was why he had given his bankcard to Blanca last time. So, Blanca felt rather confused why he didn’t turn her down today.

“Well, you don’t have to work in my company if you don’t want to,” said Matthew coldly.

“Matthew, do you have to be like that when you are talking to me?” Blanca became a little annoyed and did not even notice a flicker of mixed emotions in Matthew’s face. In fact, Matthew gave her the permission for his own purposes. He remembered quite well what had happened at the door of the Japanese restaurant. He thought he should keep a better eye on his wife, in case she fell in love with someone else.
