Chapter 1355
If Joe still couldn't be sure of his own identity, then a paternity test would be the most straightforward solution. Gloria could even ask Edwin to come to Murida.
She had been disappointed with her son beyond words and had resolved to cut ties with him for good. But now, she would be willing to concede if it could bring Joe back.
Skylar's eyes lit up. "A paternity test?"
She couldn't believe she had overlooked such a clear way to confirm Joe's identity. She had already had a few chances to discreetly collect a strand of his hair, but it hadn't even crossed her mind at the time.
"Yes, I only thought of it today." Gloria nodded. The urge to storm into the hospital and confront Joe grew stronger with each word.
After over three years of waiting, she couldn't bear seeing Skylar slandered and humiliated any longer.
The media's portrayal of Skylar had been too outrageous. They made her sound like some kind of mistress.
Skylar and Joe had a marriage certificate, making them a legitimate couple.
Skylar gave a reassuring nod, smiling gently at Gloria's worried expression. "Don't worry, Grandma. Even if we went to the hospital today, we probably wouldn't be able to reach him. Let's wait a little longer. I believe he'll give me an answer."
Today, he had asked to meet her in person, and she could feel that unspoken connection between them. She believed he would reach out soon.
She didn't deny that Rosa had feelings for him and that maybe their relationship had grown close over the past three years. After all, she had known Joe for nowhere near as long as that.
That realization hit her as she recalled seeing them embrace at the hospital. She might have overlooked it in the shock of discovering that Ned was Joe.
Now, her thoughts were tangled in a complicated mess she needed time to sort out.
Gloria sighed and regained her composure. "You're right, Skye. Right now, the rumors are flying everywhere, and stirring things up won't do us any good. Let's give it a day. I refuse to believe he'd actually marry that woman tomorrow."
Veronica chimed in, "Neither do !!
He's probably just trying to placate
Rosa so she won't jump. What they're saying online is just outrageous, but let's not focus on that What would you like for dinner, Mrs. Martin Senior, Mrs. Martin? I'll start preparing now."
Gloria waved her hand. "Whatever you feel like making will be fine."
Skylar smiled and said, "I'd like some pasta."
"Pasta? Sure! I'll get the ingredients ready. We'll have some carbonara tonight," Veronica replied, heading straight to the kitchen.
Skylar held Gloria's arm gently, reassuring her. "Please don't worry about me, Grandma. I'm really fine. Rosa's attempt to jump today must have completely caught Joe off guard. I didn't even know he had broken up with her before the news broke.
"So, in my opinion, he must have a
plan. Right now, we can have some confidence and wait and see. So, please don't worry about this, and don't get all worked up. Your health is the most important thing. Besides, if they really do decide to get married tomorrow, I'll crash it. What's there to be afraid of, right?"
"Alright, I'll listen to you. You're right. They haven't gotten married yet, have they? I've been craving pasta myself, so how about we each enjoy a big plate tonight? We should eat well and leave the complicated stuff for him to handle." Gloria nodded repeatedly. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
Seeing Gloria's mood lighten, Skylar felt relieved. "Grandma, I'm going to take a shower upstairs. I'm feeling a bit sweaty and uncomfortable." "Okay, hurry along."
Once Skylar was upstairs, Gloria sighed softly, muttering to herself, "Haven't these two been through too much already?"
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Rosa lay in her bed, staring unblinkingly at Joe.
