Chapter 1357
In everyone's eyes, Rosa was undoubtedly the pitiable one. If Joe abandoned her now, all her efforts over the past few years would be erased. The company's IPO would be jeopardized, and many investors might rethink their support of Joe.
Rosa knew that, as long as Joe weighed his options carefully, he would come to value her. She was determined to fully commit to him in return.
Joe was fielding calls from a few shareholders and even some media outlets. Rosa's incident today had caused quite a stir.
Calvin hurried over and stopped before Joe. "Mr. Sowle, people online are trying to dig up information on the supposed mistress. If this continues, they might connect the dots to Ms. Sullivan. The media also suggests they'll live broadcast your marriage certificate signing with Rosa tomorrow."
It was like being backed into a corner. At this point, Joe had little choice but to go through with the marriage. Calvin frowned at the unfolding situation. The media was being too aggressive now.
Besides, there hadn't been this many media reporters causing a stir in the past. It was possible that some individuals were already envious of their company's rise, especially since they had secured a significant amount of business this year.
"Skylar is not my mistress," Joe replied firmly. His expression hardened as his hand instinctively reached for his pocket where he kept a pack of cigarettes. But he stopped himself.
The cigarettes were there. Since learning that smoking was never really his habit, he had started trying to curb his cravings-even going without them on certain days.
He wondered who he really was.
Standing here on the rooftop, he could have a smoke-it wasn't like he was inside a hospital.
"Find out why those reporters arrived so fast," Joe added.
Calvin nodded. "Got it. What should we do about Ms. Sullivan?"
"Keep her out of this. Don't involve her. I need to speak with Rosa's psychologist tonight, and I want her diagnostic report as well," Joe commanded in a low voice.
Calvin nodded in agreement.
After taking a few puffs from his cigarette, Joe added, "Also, arrange for the director of the orphanage to meet with me. I want to speak with her in person."
"Got it. I'll go right now. By the way, is it true that you and Ms. Reese are getting married tomorrow?" Calvin asked.
Joe narrowed his eyes, gazing toward the distant skyscrapers. "We'll see about that tomorrow."Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
"Understood."
Skylar and Gloria each enjoyed a plate of pasta for dinner. The carbonara was Veronica's specialty.
The sauce of the carbonara was exceptional. After being cooked to perfection, the pasta had a refreshing taste that was easy on the stomach.
After their meal, Skylar and Gloria took a stroll in the yard.
Gloria glanced at her watch. "It's getting late. He still hasn't contacted you?"
She was impressed by Joe's composure. She wondered if he was really not worried about his wife leaving him.
Even if he had lost his memory, she felt it was wrong not to reach out.
Skylar checked the time. It was already 8:00 pm. "There's no rush, Grandma."
Gloria sighed deeply. "At this hour, how can you say there's no rush? If he hasn't reached out yet, it means he still thinks he's Ned and believes he should take responsibility for Rosa, I'll go find him tomorrow and get that paternity test done."
"Grandma, have you considered that Rosa has been by his side for three years? Maybe she holds an irreplaceable position in his heart," Skylar suddenly asked seriously.
