Chapter 59 Pranking Caleb
Tall trees catch much wind. Eva’s scandals were trending for several days in a row.
When Caleb saw the headlines, he was seriously considering making Eva quit showbiz.
After the promotion for “Rose in the Wind”, Eva would be available for the next few months. Bonnie suggested that Eva should take a break. Eva also wanted to take the opportunity to have a rest. Ever since she was signed by Luxstar, she had not been getting much rest as she did when she was in HYJAK Entertainment.
But just a week later, Eva couldn’t stay at home any longer. She wanted to go to the company to ask Bonnie about her work arrangement.
“Where are you going?” Seeing that Eva was going out, Caleb asked.
Eva also wondered why Caleb had been staying at home these days.
“To the company. I wanted to ask Bonnie if there’s any work arranged for me. I’ve been resting for a week. It’s time for me to get back to work.” Eva had to earn her own living. She felt a little weird not having to work all of a sudden.
“Just call her.”
“I can’t do this on the phone. I have to talk to Bonnie in person.”
It would also be nice just to walk around.
“No.”
“Why! I’ve been staying indoors for so many days. I have to earn my living. I’m not like you. You don’t have to work.” Caleb’s stone-cold refusal kind of irritated Eva.
“You also don’t have to.” Caleb replied.
“Just phone her. Liam hasn’t eaten yet.” Caleb glimpsed at Liam, who was sitting beside him watching videos.
Hearing that Eva was going to have a meal with him, Liam threw away the remote, ran to Eva, and tugged her sleeves begging her to stay.
Eva didn’t have the heart to refuse him, so she compromised.
“Okay. I’ll eat with you later.” Eva squatted down, coaxing him gently.
Finally, she called Bonnie, only to find out that there was no work arranged for her.
Eva glared at Caleb. He must have ordered Bonnie to clear her schedule.
Eva was wrong about that though. Bonnie didn’t find anything fit for Eva, so she didn’t put anything on her schedule.
Although several directors had sent scripts to her, Bonnie refused them all after reading. Even if they all wanted Eva to play the female lead, Bonnie felt they weren’t good enough. The script was the root of a TV series. If the root wasn’t good enough, then there was no need to go through the whole process. It would fail anyway.
Plus, she has just received a notice from her boss Nathan that he wanted to second check every script that Eva took, which also made Bonnie more careful during the selection process.
In fact, it wasn’t Nathan’s idea. He also took the order from Caleb saying that Eva couldn’t take anything without his approval.
By doing this, Caleb was taking Eva under her wings. Nathan finally understood how much Caleb cared about her.
Since Eva had nothing to do at home, she just cooked for William. Eva was actually a good cook. It was just that she was too busy with her work and didn’t have the time to cook a decent meal.
For a while, Eva bustled around the kitchen. Looking at Caleb and William sitting at the table and thinking of Caleb ruining her work life, she added a big spoonful of chili sauce in it.
At the table, Eva had been putting food on to William’s plate. Although he hated carrots, he still ate everything that was set in front of him.
“Here, have a try. I cooked this specially for you.” She picked up a piece of food and put it on to Caleb’s plate.
“Okay.” Caleb nodded.
Eva watched Caleb closely.
Caleb put the food in his mouth elegantly. His cheeks turned pink as the spiciness took over every corner of his mouth. He froze for a second, then swallowed it as if he was eating a normal dish.
Eva was a little disappointed to see that no reaction was coming out of him.
“I did put chili sauce in this dish, didn’t I?” Eva wondered.
She knew Caleb wouldn’t spicy food. To fool him into eating it, she even picked out the chili chunks one by one.
Did she remember it wrong? This was not the dish?
Eva just had one little taste and her eyes welled up with tears. It was really spicy.
She turned to look at Caleb with her watery eyes.
Didn’t he say that he couldn’t take spicy food? How did he make it look like it was not spicy at all?
Realizing her prank had failed, and even implicated herself, she was frustrated.
For the next few days, pranking Caleb was put on Eva’s everyday agenda.Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
She knew Caleb wouldn’t make it home until six-thirty, but she called William to dinner at 6 p. m.
“Aren’t we going to wait for dad?”
Eva looked at the notepad William handed over and patted his head with a smile.
“A little hungry right now. I want to have dinner earlier today. Do you want to wait for your dad, or have dinner with me?” Although she was asking a question, she was already set the table for William.
Seeing that, William ran to the table and sat down, ready to have dinner with Eva.
When Caleb got home, Eva and William already had dinner. Caleb knew what Eva was trying to do, but he let her be.
When Eva walked past her barefoot yet again, Caleb put down the newspaper and went upstairs. Eva was still wondering how could Caleb stay calm like this when Caleb walked down with a pair of slippers in his hand.
Caleb stared at Eva until she put it on.
While Eva was still focusing on how to get back at Caleb for ruining her career, Rebecca already started planning on how to take the revenge on Eva.
With Sheila egging her on and her own hatred toward Eva, Rebecca gradually sided with Sheila.
Sheila just knew how to make others do things for her. In this way, even if the plan didn’t work out, she could quickly disassociate herself from that situation. She firmly believed that it would be foolish to exact the revenge herself.
Rebecca took Sheila’s advice and sent someone to follow Eva, hoping she could get something on her.
“Sheila, I got something.” Rebecca looked at the photos in her hands with an evil smile on her face, couldn’t wait to share the good news with Sheila.
Sheila checked the photos that were just sent to her email. A sly smile appeared on her face. “The game just began. Eva Sommers.”
Ten minutes later, the Internet had blown up because of an anonymous tip-off.
Headlines like “Costar of ‘Rose in the Wind’ sold her body to get the role”, “A closer look at Eva Sommers’ sugar daddy” flooded the Internet. However, Luxstar was left in the dark.
