Chapter 2302
Chapter 2302
I was betting Jordan wouldn't fire at me.
It was my first guess.
Yet, at the same time, I sensed that Jordan would make an unexpected decision. There was no way for me to dodge this bullet.
"Bang!"
"Ah!"
Before I could figure out what to do, Jordan fired another shot in an attempt to hit Evan's other leg. Bright red blood stained the floor. Evan had no choice but to use his hands to support his body.
Perhaps he was afraid of angering Jordan further, so he bit his lips hard to avoid making a sound even though his entire body was trembling. Even the veins on his forehead were visibly throbbing.
Jordan's eyes were red with fury. He slowly cocked his gun away from Evan and toward the heavily injured Hendrix instead.
I had to put a stop to all this!
With no time to think or second-guess my decision, I quickly locked my gaze onto the gun in Jordan's hand.
The next second, I grabbed his hand and pulled it with all my strength. I aimed it at my left shoulder and used Jordan's finger to squeeze the trigger on the gun.
"Bang!"
Jordan tried to stop me, but it was too late. The bullet pierced through my flesh. It felt like a thousand burning needles were ripping through my flesh at the same time. The mind-numbing pain almost made me pass out.
I used all my strength to resist the pain, but I couldn't control my response anymore. My body felt like it wasn't mine as I felt my consciousness slip away and I started to lose my balance.
Even though I knew the shot was not fatal, I still looked yearningly over in Hendrix's direction.
He was looking at me.
After I saw him, I had no other concerns anymore. I let myself fall to the floor.
Right before I blacked out, I felt someone wrap their arms around my waist. Then, darkness.
My eyes shifted as I slowly realized that I was still alive. Immediately, I struggled to open my eyes. Judging from the smell of disinfectant in the air, I knew I was most likely at a hospital right now.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
I moved my fingers around and
pinched myself hard on the thigh. The pain felt very real. I was alive! Soon after, I started to be more
conscious of the stinging pain in my shoulder. The constant pain of my wound sobered me up completely.
I won the bet.
What about Hendrix?
I needed to know he was okay. I lifted my quilt and clenched my jaw through the pain as I tried to stand stretched one leg out, but before it could touch the ground, a familiar low voice stopped me. "Are you trying to die together with Hendrix?"
Was Hendrix dead?
No, he was lying. If he had killed Hendrix, he would not have let me live either.
"Of course." I raised my head and looked at him with hatred. "I live for him. If he is dead, there is no reason for me to stay alive anymore. You can save me this time, but not forever. As soon as I get the chance, I will join Hendrix!"
"Do you think I care?" Jordan's pupils were dark, and his expression was indifferent. He was as arrogant as the Grim Reaper from hell.
Of course, he cared. Otherwise, he wouldn't have spared my life.
Soon, Jordan would know how scary it was to have feelings that ran deep.
"I know you don't care, so..." Halfway through my words, I noticed a TV cab behind him. I straightened my body and smashed my head down on
it.
Although I avoided the sharp corner of the cab, the strong impact still made me dizzy. The TV toppled over from the force and crashed to the ground.
Jordan quickly turned around, his eyebrows furrowed. "Arianna, enough!"
I pressed down on my wound with my uninjured hand. I was too weak to even open my eyes, but I still forced a smile. "I could stop, but you won't let me. You know that I can't live if Hendrix is dead. Yet, you insisted on taking his life. You were the one who did this to me. Now you want to act coy and come visit me? No one is falling for your stupid act. You're ridiculous, Jordan!"
