Chapter 2307
Chapter 2307
I leaned back against the couch. I did not even feel like opening my eyes right now. I just reached out and caught the phone with my sixth sense. As
soon as I did, I felt the phone vibrate.
I peeked at my notifications. Jordan had already responded.
"I don't care about these boring things."
The messages that Mullen had sent were, "I got discharged. I'm home now."
One would never respond if they were not interested. Jordan might seem annoyed, but that was not the case here. Not at all.
I replied calmly, "Really? I thought you'd want to know what I'm doing."
After waiting for two minutes, there was no response from the other side. He was probably ticked off that I had exposed his true intentions again. This was just how I wanted it.
It was not fair that I had to suffer from being separated from my family while he was having the time of his life. What goes around will always come back around.
Now, I needed to calm down. I was planning to ask Tobias for help in finding out how Hendrix was doing. Although he might turn me down out of fear of angering Jordan, money was always a great motivator. I strongly believed that if I could offer him a high enough price, there was nothing he would not do.
Sadly, when I called him, there was no answer.
After thinking about it for a while, I decided to send him a message. "Five percent of the Roberts Group shares. That is the highest offer I can give you."
Sure enough, he immediately video-called me.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
The screen showed Tobias' shameless face after having read the message. "Look at me. I've been so busy lately that I completely missed your call. What's going on? It seems like you've got a big deal to settle."
He already knew, but he was asking anyway.
Although we used to be close, we were not that close. Since I needed a favor from him, I had no right to criticize his fake attitude.
"I want to know if Hendrix is dead or alive," I said calmly.
"That's all?" Tobias asked with an intriguing smile.
"Of course not, considering the value of shares I'm giving you, there's no way the job is that easy." Since we were talking business, I did not bother to beat around the bush.
"Go on." Although Tobias had a glib tongue, he was fair. Seeing that I was not in the mood to joke, he immediately became more serious.
"I haven't decided yet. I'll tell you after I've thought of it. Hopefully, you won't be that hard to reach by then," I said sarcastically.
Tobias' expression froze for a
moment, but it quickly returned to his usual fawning expression. "Haha, what are you saying? I've always been at you and Mr. Roberts beck and call."
"I hope so." I really did not want to hear any more of his insincere answers. Hence, I hung up.
Soon, I received news about Hendrix. However, it did not come from Tobias but rather a gossip magazine. The media was honestly sometimes quite amazing.
Considering Hendrix's status, it was only fair for his story to make it to the front cover.
The headline of the article was no joke either. "Wise CEO infatuated with C-list celebrity accompanies her to work."
To put it simply, Hendrix was supposedly accompanying Andrea to film a movie.
I smirked. It made sense. The
reason the media was so hot on his tail was because of his role in the movie. Hendrix played a wealthy
nice guy while Andrea played a
woman who survived by selling her body. Apart from being plain, she had no other flaws. The plot of the movie was about how Hendrix fell madly in love with her character.
A well-known reporter commented, "Not sure if they are torturing Mr. Roberts' character or him as a person."
I casually tossed the magazine onto the table. Then, I called Mullen over and told her to get ready to leave.
"Where are we going?" Mullen asked.
I took out a dusty baseball cap that I had not worn in so long and put it on after patting away the dust. Looking at myself in the mirror, I answered, "The film set."
