Chapter 765
"Alright, today I'm all yours," Fanny said, standing on her tiptoes to plant a kiss on Yates' chin.
Yates wasn't content with just a peck; he drew her in for a deep kiss...
They were oblivious to a car that had stopped nearby, only to drive away slowly.
Yates had his phone on silent, wholly dedicating his time to Fanny as they watched movies, enjoyed their food, and cycled together under the setting sun. It seemed as though he had devoted the entire day to her, fulfilling all her wishes.
However, Fanny's phone vibrated with a message from Milly: "Fanny, if you don't want Yates to get into trouble, have him return my call."
Even through the text, Milly's frustration was palpable, likely having tried to call Yates multiple times.
Under the sunset, sitting back-to-back on the grass, Fanny handed her phone to Yates. "You should call back."
Yates could see the concern in her eyes. After being oceans apart for so long, they both had longed for this time together.
"No need, it's nothing urgent. Besides, it's late now. I promised today would be about you," Yates assured her, choosing Fanny over the call. Fanny felt moved, realizing he truly cared, prioritizing her over his work.
"Yates, you're wonderful," she said, leaning in for another kiss.
Their kiss, under the fading sun, attracted some curious glances, but they paid no mind.
The moment was interrupted by another call from Milly on Fanny's phone.
"Maybe you should answer it. It might be important," Fanny suggested, handing him the phone.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Yates answered on speaker, and
before he could say anything, Milly's voice came through sharply, "Dr. Willis, why isn't Yates returning my calls? I need to speak with him, do yout understand?"
Fanny frowned at the accusatory tone, but Yates responded, defending Fanny against any disrespect.
Milly explained, "It's the professor. An old friend's relative has a heart condition and needs you to look into it. They've been waiting all day." Yates clenched his jaw, clearly displeased.
Milly had tried to pressure him by mentioning the professor, but Yates held his ground. "I'm unavailable today. Tell them they'll have to wait until after the conference tomorrow."
"Yates!" Milly exclaimed, questioning his priorities over the professor's request.
"The professor is important, but my girlfriend is more so. Please inform the professor that if they can't wait, they should find someone else," Yates said before ending the call.
Fanny looked at him. "Maybe you should go. We can catch up after you're finished."
"No, this kind of attitude needs to change. If they want my help, they'll have to wait," Yates declared, his tone firm.
Fanny laughed, touched by his stance. She held his face, "You're so cool, Yates. But, I might need to pull some strings for a favor too."
"And what kind of connection do you think we have?" Yates teased after hearing her request.
Fanny leaned close to whisper in his ear, causing Yates to blush, his voice turning hoarse, "Fanny..."
