Chapter 109
Since Quentin put it that way, that meant that it was not a big deal anymore.
“Okay. Call me when you and the others reach Herland.”
“We will. Have fun.”
Chandler also told Naomi to have fun in Herland before he left. Since Scott was taking her there, it was surely to take her around Herland to have a moment of leisure.
They were a young couple, after all. It was only normal.
After hanging up, Naomi went to the market to get some groceries, wanting to cook something for Charles. He had worked very hard as of late.
During breakfast, Naomi told her parents about heading to Herland that day. Donna and Dean were not surprised at all. They knew about her going to Herland a few days ago, and leaving earlier was nothing shocking.
Donna was worried about Naomi’s hand, however, so she packed her luggage for her.
When Naomi returned from the market, Donna had already finished packing.
“Herland is by the sea. The difference in temperature during the day and night might be huge.
I packed two coats for you and also some of your favorite foods. I placed them all in your
luggage,” Donna said to Naomi while dragging the luggage to the living room.
“Thanks, Mom.”
Naomi was carrying a bag of groceries. Donna noticed that she had quite some meat and vegetables.
She quickly headed over and said, “I’ll help you.”
“Mh.” Naomi did not refuse. She brought/the groceries to the kitchen together with Donna.
Naomi told Donna that she was going to cook for Charles. Donna and Dean wholeheartedly agreed with her idea. They just wanted Naomi to avoid getting her hands wet.
“I’ll help you wash the vegetables. You can slice them yourself. What do you say?” suggested Donna. She understood Naomi’s wish to cook herself.
Naomi said with a smile, “It’s fine. I can put on gloves. Go get busy. You don’t have to worry about me.”
Donna worked in a pharmaceutical factory when she was younger, for more than 20 years. One year, a terrible condition afflicted her. She headed to the hospital to do a physical. The conclusion she got was that she was more prone to occupational hazards, seeing as she was growing older.
Their family was well–off and were not strapped for cash. Thus, Dean asked her to stop
working and recuperate. Health was of the utmost importance.

Naomi also wanted her parents to be together and healthy.
Thus, Donna quit her job and stayed home to recuperate. Her body recovered quite quickly as a result.
Naturally, she could no longer sit and do nothing. She always wanted to find something to do. Coincidentally, she had a colleague whose relative needed the money and was urgently selling their shop.
Donna eventually decided to survey the offer and realized the shop’s location was strategic. It was right by the corner of a food street, too. She could do anything she wanted with it.
After drafting up the budget, she discussed with Dean to make the store into a supermarket.
Later, they managed it well and even opened two more stores up till that point.
The supermarket was well–staffed, and business was booming. Donna would head over to have a look whenever she was free. If she was busy, she would just stay home. Life had been pleasant to her, and she no longer suffered grievous health problems. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
Naomi grabbed the gloves and put them on.
Donna smiled at how resolutely independent Naomi was. She understood her daughter the best.
If someone treated her right, she would use all her might to treat them well too. It was just like her.
“Alright. I’ll head to the supermarket, then. Call me if you need anything.”
“Okay.”
Donna left.
Naomi prepared all the ingredients in an organized manner.
As the clock reached 11 a.m., she placed all the food she cooked in a thermos and placed them in a bag.
She then took her phone to look at the time when she stumbled upon a message.
