Chapter 147
Things were just getting started at the Sicily Pub.
Naomi followed Dylan up the spiral staircase to the open-air space on the top floor.
It was not exactly an open-air space as it was surrounded by glass walls. The outside had no effect on the inside.
At the same time, they had a 360-degree view of the entire city of Herland. They could even see the stars in the skies.
The entire area was surprisingly gorgeous, elegant, and luxurious.
Naomi looked out at the city skyline. Then, she looked at the tiny glass rooms filled with people.
They had a professional bartender making drinks for them. Waiters came in and out with a tray of assorted alcoholic drinks and food.
Naomi looked at the people inside the private rooms to see them clinking glasses. They were smiling at each other, eyes gleaming flirtatiously.
It was then Naomi realized this was not some banquet or event. She was at a…bar.
She stopped in her tracks and looked at Dylan, who was in front of her showing the way.
The delighted Dylan was in an extremely relaxed state. He continued walking forward until he realized how quiet it was behind him.
He turned to see Naomi stopped in her tracks, staring at him.
Somewhat surprised, he immediately walked over. "What is it?"
Naomi looked Dylan in the eyes and asked, "What are we doing here?"
She finally asked the question.
Dylan blinked. He looked into Naomi's clear eyes.
Naomi cooperated with him previously because he did not tell her where they were going, so she thought that they were out so late at night for work.
At that moment, she finally noticed that it clearly was not for work. That was why she stopped cooperating.
He could see the changes in her behavior. He replied with a smile, "Drinking."
Honest and direct.
Naomi looked at Dylan's honest gaze. She was silent for two seconds before asking, "Is this something to do with work?"
Dylan raised his eyebrow. He thought that Naomi would say she was not going to drink and she wanted to go. He never expected that this was her question instead.
He smiled and asked, "Will you drink if it has something to do with work?"
Naomi paused for a while before shaking her head. "No."
Dylan was stunned. He thought that Naomi would say that she would. Before he could chime in, Naomi continued, "If it has something to do with work and if I'm needed, I'll stay for a while. If it has nothing to do with work, I'm not going to stay." Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
If it was not about work, she did not need to force herself to stay there.
Naomi knew that she needed to set her boundaries. She had to decline when it was time to do so. She should not force herself or make herself do something she did not want to do. Otherwise, more trouble would ensue.
Dylan was not surprised that Naomi was so direct.
Naomi might seem like a cooperative and quiet woman, but she had strong principles.
Instead of saying she had strong principles, one could say she was also dense and inflexible.
Dylan felt helpless. "You've been busy for the past two days. You need to blow off some steam! We're all adults. We can't go to boring places, so I thought of this place. This is a pretty cool place. I thought that this place would be to your liking. Clearly, I was wrong."
