Chapter 248
As soon as Naomi and Charles got into the cab, they said two restaurant names in unison.
The driver looked at them through the rearview mirror when he heard what they said.
Naomi and Charles looked at each other in surprise. The driver smiled and said, "Let me know when you have decided."
They laughed when they heard what the driver said.
Charles said, "Can we go to mine, please?"
He looked at Naomi with tenderness in his gaze. His tone was filled with consent and respect.
Naomi thought for a while and nodded. "Sure."
Charles beamed at her. He told the driver the address. Soon, the driver flashed his turn signal and switched lanes.
"How are you doing recently? Are you getting used to Herland?" Charles was still smiling at Naomi. His gaze was ever so gentle.
No matter how hard he tried, he could not hide his feelings for her. He had not seen her in a while, and it had felt like an eternity. When he was looking at her, he did not want to take his gaze away from her.
Naomi nodded. "It's alright. The sun rises and sets earlier here. Other than that, it feels almost like Horizon City."
She paused to think before saying, "There are more foreigners here, even those from overseas. It's a bustling city. But I find that quite nice."
Naomi was earnestly recounting the differences she had noticed in Herland and her own feelings.
Charles was still staring at her, listening intently. He gave her a tender smile.
"I visited Herland long ago when I was still in school. Everything looks different now." While reminiscing, Charles gazed out the window at the skyscrapers.
Naomi was a little surprised. "You've been to Herland?" He had never mentioned it to her. She thought that it was his first visit.
Charles could hear the surprise in her voice. He retracted his gaze to look at her. He smiled and said, "Yes, when I was in middle school. My family took me here on a trip." Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
Naomi understood. Herland had always been a popular tourist destination, especially back then. The city had gone through a lot in the past but slowly became prosperous and peaceful. Many people went there to experience the history of their ancestors who died in battle.
Naomi nodded. "This place is worth coming at least once." She looked serious.
Charles smiled even wider at her.
As they chatted, they soon arrived at the restaurant Charles had reserved. The journey only took a little more than ten minutes.
The hotel that Naomi stayed in was a great one. It was the best in Herland. Naturally, all the best restaurants and shops were nearby.
They stepped out of the taxi and into the restaurant.
The waiter quickly escorted them to their table, a two-seater by the window. It was a private room or a booth.
The waiter handed them the menu. Charles said, "Order whatever you like to eat." He closed the menu and looked at Naomi with a gentle gaze.
Naomi said nothing. She nodded and ordered two dishes before saying to Charles, "You should order one dish."
Naomi had ordered the local specialty. Dylan had previously explained to everyone which dishes were famous in Herland and which should not be missed.
Charles immediately knew that Naomi had ordered the local specialty.
