Chapter 27
“Vergil, go inside, I’ll wait for you in the car,” said Nydia.
The assistant looked puzzled. “First, go and see where Barclay is. Be careful not to get caught by him.”
“I’ll go now.”
Despite having many questions, the assistant followed Nydia’s instructions and went to find Barclay. He was sitting at a table near the edge, looking gloomy and drinking alone. In the minute that the assistant observed him, two women came up to him to chat, but he brushed them off.
The assistant returned to report to Nydia. “You find a place to sit and observe him. If a woman comes up to him for a drink, take a photo or video. If he leaves with a woman, take a photo too.”
“Thank you for your hard work tonight. This time counts as overtime, and I’ll let Jesse know when I get back.”
The assistant had no idea what Nydia was up to, so he found a table near Barclay and sat down. He had to be careful since Barclay knew him.
Soon, another woman came up to Barclay. The assistant thought she was there to chat, but she sat down and looked at Barclay with concern. “Mr. Evans, why are you drinking so much?” She reached out to touch his face.
“What are you doing here? Go away,” Barclay was already angry, and seeing his secretary made him even angrier.
“I know you despise me, but I’m worried about you drinking here. Let me drink with you. Don’t worry, I won’t cause you any trouble. I’ll hand in my resignation on Monday.”
Barclay was taken aback, feeling guilty.
“Let’s drink together this time. I won’t be in your life after tonight.”
As they drank and talked, the secretary’s words touched his heart and made him more depressed. Unconsciously, he drank more.
“I think you’re excellent, Mr. Evans. Willette doesn’t deserve you. I know you’ll be angry when I say this, but I still want to say it.”
“Okay, enough about her. Let’s drink,” Barclay interrupted her.
They continued to drink until Barclay was too drunk to stand. The secretary helped him out of the nightclub and called a taxi.
Nydia recorded the whole scene on video and asked the assistant to follow the taxi to see where they were going. The assistant had experience tailing people without being noticed, so he followed the taxi without arousing suspicion. They arrived at the secretary’s house, and Nydia was satisfied with the information.
“Good job, Vergil. Let’s go back now. You’ve worked hard tonight.”
Nydia went back to her room, while the assistant reported the situation to Jesse.
“What? Nydia didn’t have any contact with Barclay?” Jesse was surprised.
“No, sir. The secretary took him away, and Nydia just followed them.”
“Alright, I see. You can rest now.”Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Both of them had many questions, but Nydia lay comfortably in bed and sent a message to a stranger with her old phone.
“I’m giving you a chance. It’s up to you to cherish it.”
“Who are you?”
“I’m an angel. Don’t thank me. If you seize this opportunity, you might become Mrs. Evans in the future.”
The secretary looked at the unconscious Barclay on the bed, bit her lip, and took off his clothes.
