Chapter 10
Sabrina instantly spotted Nelson at the center of the crowd-filled, dimly-lit room—the largest private lounge in Club Felicity—but it wasn't because of his outstanding looks.
Every man in sight had a woman with them. Nelson was the only one who sat alone with a cigarette in his hand. Obscured by the cigarette smoke, he looked detached and aloof.
Any wife would have felt proud of her husband if he stayed away from women like Nelson. However, she found herself feeling envious of other women because Nelson was sexually healthy yet refused to sleep with her.
At that moment, she envied Pamela deeply.
Meanwhile, Nelson immediately spotted Sabrina by her tiny waist as she walked in. She was dressed in a grey sweater paired with black high-waisted flared pants, further accentuating her slim waist.
"Ms. Wyatt, I could lift you up by your waist," someone teased Sabrina in the crowded lounge, even whistling at her.
She glanced at the man. "Why don't you give it a try later? I hope you could really lift me like you claimed."
While she was speaking, Nelson rose from the couch and approached her. She picked up a mix of woody scent and cigarettes from his body, and she followed him out of the lounge.
Since they stood next to each other, he cast a shadow over her. Feeling uneasy, she tried to take a step backward when he spoke, "Behave yourself. We haven't signed the divorce papers yet."
Staring at his icy eyes, she knew he must have misunderstood the situation in her private lounge. She brushed off the thought of explaining it to him, as it was pointless, especially after they had
agreed on the division of assets.
Still, she found him hypocritical. Did he behave himself when he was with Pamela?
However, she held her tongue, as the brooch still remained in his possession. Although he verbally agreed to give it to her, she didn't want to upset him out of fear he might delay handing it over.
"Sure. I won't give you any trouble," she agreed obediently.
He lowered his gaze and observed the light makeup on her face—gorgeous, but not gaudy.
In the past, she was ingratiating. Yesterday, she was argumentative and aggressive. Today, she acted overly deferential. Confused, he wondered which was her true self.
"Are you leaving?" asked Sabrina. "I'll stay for half an hour more. How does that sound?"
She thought she was being courteous for keeping up the act, even when they were on the brink of a divorce.
Hearing that, Nelson shot her a frosty look before wandering back to his lounge.
"What a difficult man", she thought. "He couldn't even be nice to me after I willingly cooperated with him."
When she headed back to her private lounge, she had a talk with Abigail in the quietest corner of the room. When she noticed Abigail acting absentmindedly, she looked in the same direction as Abigail.
There, she found Nelson smoking. The glow of the cigarette flickered between his fingers. His side profile looked perfect from her angle. His sharp jawline added to his sexual appeal.
"He's so… slutty!" Abigail remarked. "Sleep with him, or you'll miss out."
Someone happened to turn off the music at that moment, and everyone overheard Abigail's comment. They turned to the two ladies with knowing looks, and things grew really awkward for a while. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
Apart from Ronaldo and a few others, no one there was aware of the secret marriage between Sabrina and Nelson.
Gerald Ingram, the scion who boasted about lifting Sabrina by her waist, playfully teased, "Ms. Wyatt, who would you like to sleep with?"
"Get lost, Gerald. This is none of your business."
Gerald was clearly upset after Ronaldo chided him. "Ronaldo, what's that for? Can't we admire Ms. Wyatt's beauty?" Then, he winked at Sabrina in an embarrassingly shameless display. "I'm very well-behaved."
"Gerald, guess who Ms. Wyatt is interested in?"
As Sabrina was pretty and active in the business world, she was a famous figure in Slitton's social circles. Everyone in the lounge was acquainted in one way or another, but Nelson was an exception as he had just returned from abroad.
Everyone turned to Sabrina, who tried to explain herself, but Ronaldo quickly pulled her closer to Nelson.
In the middle of the gasps and excited shouts, Nelson responded in a deep voice, "Keep it down. She's my sister."
