Anderson came out after changing his clothes.

In the restaurant downstairs, they sat in their usual spot. Dinner was already prepared, and it was a feast of food. Seeing the lavish dinner spread, Mayra’s eyes lit up.

“Andy, there’s so much food. Will we be able to finish it?”

Anderson replied, “If we can’t finish it, you can have the leftovers for supper.”

Mayra nodded. “Sure.”

Mayra didn’t usually eat greasy food, but she was feeling greedy. She took the crispy roast pork which had already been sliced by the waiter, sprinkled some seasoning on top of it, and then ate it with relish. Anderson took some tissues and wiped the corners of her mouth as if he were handling a pet. “Don’t worry, there’s plenty of food. Don’t eat too much at night or you might get a stomachache later.” Mayra said, “It would be a waste to throw away the unfinished food. We shouldn’t waste food.”

He stared at her and said, “Things are different now. You can eat when you want to and not eat if you don’t want to. I won’t let you go hungry again.”

Instantly, Mayra’s eating motions slowed down. Back then, he had also said that he wouldn’t abandon her. With him by her side, Mayra felt no sense of security.

She used to think that Anderson would be the “family” whom she could rely on forever.

It was almost 8:00 pm when dinner ended.

Sitting in the back seat of the car, Mayra asked, “Andy, where are we going?” This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.

“A very fun place,” he answered.

Shortly later, Hailey also arrived. She usually wore high heels, but she had switched to flats. Judging by her walking posture, her injuries were probably not fully healed yet.

Soon, they arrived at the lobby of an entertainment club that resembled an Eldorian castle. Mayra followed behind Anderson while a blond, blue–eyed foreigner in a black suit respectfully led them to a private elevated viewing platform.

Mayra saw that both the ground floor and second floor were filled with high–profile businesspeople, most of who probably came from wealthy and prestigious families in Candor City.

Such an extraordinary auction took place every month, and no invitation was needed. As long as one’s assets were worth no less than nine figures, one could attend.

The viewing platform where Anderson was seated was not for just anyone. There were only four of these seats. Among them, Anderson’s seat was the most prestigious.

Sitting beside Anderson, Mayra had a clear view of everything below, most notably an art sculpture that was currently displayed on the stage.

From the looks of it, the auction had been going on for some time. The bidding for this fully crystal–carved sculpture with gold edges had already reached over 90 million dollars.

To ordinary people, this kind of money was Impossible to earn or spend In several lifetimes. But for people of their class, this amount of money was nothing.

Hailey handed a catalog to Anderson, saying, “These are the items for auction today.”

Anderson didn’t even glance at it. Instead, he handed the catalog to Mayra beside him. “See if there’s anything you like.”

Curious about what was being auctioned, Mayra took the catalog and flipped through it. On the first page was a bronze artifact. They were even auctioning such items?

Wasn’t it illegal?

The price…

Mayra couldn’t even count the number of zeros.

She flipped through several more pages, finding the prices exorbitant. In her previous life, she had attended many auctions with Anderson, but not once had she seen one with such high prices. The starting bids were already eight figures.

Finally, Mayra saw a familiar bangle that looked like an ordinary ruby bangle.

In her previous life, Anderson had originally intended to give it to Isabel. But with a single call to him, he gave the bangle to her instead.

As for its origin, she didn’t ask about it.

At the time, Mayra thought it was just a cheap piece of jewelry. But she cherished and took care of all the jewelry Anderson gave her.

One day, she lost this bangle somewhere. When Anderson found out, he didn’t blame her.
