Chapter 1012
A meal of five dishes and a soup was about as much as Sophie could manage in the two hours she had.
Gordon glanced at the array of pots, pans, and utensils in the kitchen and quipped, "Bet the kitchen never thought it'd see the day when all four burners would be in action at once."
Sophie took off her apron and replied, "Thank goodness for Mr. Gordon's four burners. Otherwise, making five dishes in just a couple of hours would've been a real headache."
With that, Sophie went to serve the food. Just as she was about to head back to the kitchen, Colby shot a look at Adler, who immediately got the hint. He sprang up and dashed towards the kitchen, calling out, "Sis! Let me help you with the plates!"
Jenna craned her neck and shouted, "Yeah, Sophie, let me help serve too!"
Colby went into the kitchen, got Sophie's dishes ready, and placed them on the table.
Finally, Sophie came to the table, holding Colby's plate in her left hand and Gordon's in her right.
"Mr. Gordon, your meal."
Sophie set Gordon's plate down in front of him and then did the same with Colby's.
Sitting next to Adler, Jenna whispered, "Do you feel like the atmosphere is a bit awkward?"
"A bit, yeah."
Adler, staring at the full plate of rice in front of him, muttered, "We're not really going to eat all this, are we?"
"What else? Look at Colby's face! If we don't eat, it's like slapping Sophie in the face. Would you dare disrespect Sophie in front of Colby? Trust me, he wouldn't take it lightly."
"...This brotherhood is really a double-edged sword. I wish I'd eaten less for dinner!"
Sophie's five dishes were all light in flavor, considering Gordon was just recovering from a serious illness and couldn't handle anything too greasy. She made blanched lettuce, stir-fried yams with black fungus, a tri-color shrimp stir-fry, steamed bass, and chicken with mushrooms.
She even studied the recipes carefully before making them.
The atmosphere at the table was tense. Gordon was the first to pick up his
anxiork, and under Sophie's
anxious gaze, he tried a bite of the shrimp stir-fry.
As everyone's eyes were on him, Gordon asked, "Why are you all staring at me?"
"Mr. Gordon, about what happened today, you're not upset, are you?" Jenna boldly asked the question that was on Sophie's mind.
This was also something Jenna wanted to know!
If Gordon was still upset about the day's events, it could spell trouble!Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.

In response to Jenna's inquiry, Gordon said, "Ms. Jenna, I don't understand why I should be upset."
"Because of -!"
Jenna almost blurted out the
incident of Sophie nearly stuffing the
medicine she found in the trash into
Gordon's mouth, but upon seeing the atmosphere in the living room, she quickly stopped herself
Everything was fine now; why dig up something that could potentially upset Gordon again?
"It seems I came back too late today and missed a good show," remarked Colby, his gaze fixed on Gordon.
At that moment, Angelo and Sandy came downstairs.
The two had spent the entire day in their rooms, clueless about what had happened.
"What's going on? Why didn't you call us for dinner?"
As Angelo spoke, his eyes scanned the dishes on the table: "Wow, did you make all these, Ms. Sophie?"
