Chapter 994
"Even if Odie is out for revenge, so what? I'm the heiress of the Pollard family! What can he possibly do to me?" Sandy scoffed, hands on her hips, dismissing the concern.
With just a word from her dad, the Minton family would be groveling to work for them. She wasn't afraid of what Odie could do to her.
Hearing Sandy's bluster, Sophie rubbed her forehead. Sandy never seemed to consider her situation outside the Pollard family's bubble.
"Ms. Sandy," Sophie began, "you barely leave your comfort zone and don't understand how dangerous the world can be. If Odie tried something outside of our turf, could you handle it?" "How dare he?!" Sandy shot back.
"Why wouldn't he dare?" Sophie countered.
"Because of my daddy!"
"Caelum can't protect you overseas."
Sandy paused for a second, then said, "I still don't believe he'd harm me. If he tried, my daddy and brother would make him regret it!"
Sophie knew arguing with the spoiled princess was pointless. As long as Sandy was with her, Odie probably wouldn't pull anything.
A moment later, Sophie heard an engine approaching. She glanced at her phone. Only ten minutes had passed? How did Odie get here so fast?
Odie's car rolled up and parked smoothly outside Warehouse No. 1. He stepped out, alone.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
"Where's Jonah?" Sophie asked. Jonah and Odie were usually inseparable; his absence was unusual.
"He... had some matters to attend to," Odie replied.
Sophie frowned. "What could be more important than this? Jonah always handles things for you."
Odie's face tightened with annoyance. "Why so many questions?"
"Alright, I won't ask." Sophie backed down.
Odie scanned the warehouse. "Where's the equipment? Show me."
"This way," Sophie said, stepping aside.
Inside, rows of machines stretched out. Odie's expression darkened. "Where did all these machines come from?"
"Bought them," Sophie said bluntly. "And the money came from your account."
Odie's mouth twitched in disbelief. "Sophie, are you out of your mind? Buying a few machines is one thing, but thousands? Do you know how much this cost?"
Sophie waved a hand dismissively. "Not much, just a few million. The Mintons of Summerfield are loaded, Mr. Odie. Don't be stingy."
"Hey! Can you two pay attention to me? I'm still here, you know?" Sandy interjected, visibly upset. Wasn't Odie her fiancé? When did he get so chummy with Sophie?
Something was definitely off!
Odie turned a cold gaze on Sandy, his expression icy. "Ms. Sandy, why leave your lavish life overseas to come to a place like Devonport? What are you doing here?"
"I'll go wherever I please. You're the one who left Summerfield to come here, right? We're in the same boat," Sandy retorted, not caring about Odie's attitude.
Sophie added, "Mr. Odie, calling it a backwater is a bit much, don't you think? Devonport is prime real estate; you might not even afford it."
