Chapter 624 Go See Hugh
Chapter 624 Go See Hugh
Chapter 624 Go See Hugh
It was another day and Drake told Sophia he was taking her to meet Hugh. Sophia was curious. She
had never heard them mention Hugh before. What kind of person was he? He could make the three
best friends feel pain every time they thought of him.
Sophia bought a bouquet of flowers and went to the cemetery with Drake.
They found Hugh's grave and Drake introduced Sophia to Hugh, "Hugh, I'm here. This is the woman I
have mentioned to you before, I have loved her for years. This is Sophia."
"Hi, Hugh."
Sophia put the flowers down at the tombstone.
There was a photo on it and the person in it was only a teenager.
"Drake, tell me something about him."
"Okay."
Drake stood there, looking at the familiar but somehow strange face, and started to tell the story.
"Back then, Hugh, Bailey, Flynn and I grew up together since our families are all connected. We had
been very close, just like brothers. Later, we grew up and Hugh's parents wanted to send him abroad
for study."
"But he didn't want to leave us, so we decided to go abroad with him. However, none of us had
expected that he never came back..."
"We met Cathy on the first year we went abroad. She was nice and easy-going. We all saw her as a
friend and Hugh liked me. We were still young. We were relatively conservative since we were from
noble families."
"That's how Cathy stepped into our world. There were a lot of foreigners around and she was from the
same country as we did, so we spent a lot of time together. Mostly it was Flynn and Hugh who talked to
her. You know me, I seldom talked to any woman except for you."
Sophia nodded. She did know that.
"Later, we went to high school together and Hugh's feelings for Cathy grew. We told him he should tell
her how he felt for her, but he always said they were still too young. We respected his decision, and
yet, something that none of us had expected happened..." Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
"Back then, Cathy had another pursuer who was a native. He wasn't a nice guy, he hung out with
hooligans all the time and often harassed Cathy. Since we were together most of the time, that guy
never actually got a chance to do anything to her."
"Until one day, Cathy was spotted alone by him. He harassed her again but Cathy turned him down.
Hugh saw it. He didn't call us but rushed over alone, trying to help her out."
"However, those people were really good at fighting. When we got the call from Cathy and hurried
there, he was already dead."
Upon hearing this, Sophia held her breath.
"He just... died?"
"Yes. The three of us couldn't take it at all and we sent him to the hospital, the doctor said he was
already gone and rescuing was pointless."
Sophia could feel that even after all these years, it still broke his heart to recall it. He couldn't help
shivering in pain.
Sophia put her hand on his, "I'm sorry, Drake. I shouldn't have asked you to tell me."
"No, Sophia. I feel much better now after talking to you. Over the years, the three of us never
mentioned it because it was too painful. But I needed a way to let it out. It's killing me."
Sophia hugged him. "No one wants to see that happen. It's Hugh's choice. We couldn't make it for
him."
"You're right. It was indeed his choice. I couldn't understand it at first and I even blamed him and Cathy.
Cathy was smart, she left us alone and every time we saw her, she looked depressed."
"Later, we graduated and came back home."
Sophia asked in confusion, "Why did you go to Amerosia after that?"
"We came home and we inevitably had to meet his family. Hugh's mom cried almost every day and it
broke our hearts."
"So, Flynn suggested we go to somewhere else. So, we went to Amerosia and that's how we met you."
"What about Hugh's family?"
"They have gone abroad. They couldn't bear the loss of their son. Hugh is their only son. They sold all
their properties. If it didn't happen, Hugh's family might be also one of the most influential ones in
Sealand.
Sophia hugged him tightly, "It must be heartbreaking to see your best friend die in front of you."
Drake hugged her, "Yes. We often think about him. If it didn't happen, there would be the four of us
now. How good would that be?"
Life was unpredictable. Even as powerful as Drake, he had his own hidden pain.
"Drake, I want to come see Hugh on every of his death anniversary with you from now on."
Drake smiled and stroked her cheek.
"Okay."
Sophia said unhappily, "I've told you, there should be no secrets between the two of us. And now,
another secret. Are you trying to piss me off?"
"Is there anything else you haven't told me?"
Drake thought about it and shook his head when he saw how cute she was, "No. That's all."
"You'd better be saying the truth. I will kick your ass if I found another secret!"
Drake suddenly whispered in her ear, "You can take the top."
"Hey! This is a serious moment!"
"Drake!"
As the mood became lighter, someone suddenly came over and attracted their attention.
"Sorry to interrupt. I came to see Hugh and saw you here. What a coincidence."
