But this was to be expected. It was just human nature.

Mona had dressed flamboyantly for the book signing event today. But usually, a lot of her clothes were from Amazon.

“Steven’s a very patient and gentle person,” Mona replied.

Maisy chuckled inwardly at the comment. “Patient and gentle?”

Maybe that was how Steven was with Mona and Skylar, but he could be utterly heartless when

it came to her.

“Can you lend me some money? I just arrived in Jipsburg and need cash to rent a place. I didn’t want to bother Steven, so can you lend me some tens of thousands of dollars?” Maisy made her request straightforwardly.

Mona looked surprised. “Borrow you money?”

“Yeah, you seem to have plenty. Some tens of thousands of dollars shouldn’t be a problem for you, right? I’ll pay you back once I start earning,” Maisy said casually.

Mona began to feel a little wary. It was unusual for someone to ask for money right off the bat. Moreover, she still wasn’t sure if this person was Steven’s cousin.

“I don’t have any cash on hand and need to check with Steven,” Mona replied diplomatically, refusing the request.

Upon hearing this, Maisy leaned back in her chair, a cold smile creeping onto her face. “You were so patient with your fans earlier, even caring about one who was injured and donating to help them. But now, knowing I’m Steven’s sister, you’d rather give money to others than to me?” novelbin

Well, that changed things. Maisy had initially thought that, if possible, she wouldn’t want to be so ruthless. After all, if things escalated, it would be easy for Steven to end up hating her.

But now, it seemed unnecessary. Maisy was determined to show Mona what true darkness

looked like.

“That’s different. You should just ask Steven for help. I’ve got things to take care of,” Mona said as she stood up, ready to leave.

It was clear they had nothing more to say to each other.

“How heartless of you!” Maisy stood up as well, a cold smirk on her face as she suddenly revealed a spray can from her pocket and aimed it directly at Mona.

In an instant, Mona felt a wave of dizziness wash over her.

An overwhelming sense of helplessness surged within her. Just as she opened her mouth to scream for help, Maisy covered her mouth. Although many people were around, no one noticed what was happening between them.

As Mona began to lose consciousness, despair filled her heart. Meanwhile, just as Maisy was about to drag Mona away, someone called out to her.

“Maisy?”

When Skylar received the call, she was asleep. It was a long–distance call. The moment she opened her eyes and noticed Natalie’s name on the screen, any trace of drowsiness disappeared, and she picked up the call.

“Nath.”

“I know it’s late, and you’re probably asleep, but I had to call you. You won’t believe who I just saw.” Natalie’s voice was filled with shock.

Skylar became more alert and asked, “Who?”

“It’s Maisy! I saw her in my café. That’s not the main issue, though. The real problem is that she met Mona and sprayed something on her face.

“Mona is unconscious right now. I don’t know what would happen if I hadn’t seen it and stopped her from taking Mona away. I don’t have your brother’s number, so I couldn’t contact him and had to reach out to you.” Natalie’s voice was laced with anxiety as she recounted the shocking events.

It was incredibly intense. Fortunately, there were many people in the café. When Maisy realized things were getting out of hand, she slipped away.
