Ruined(Eternal Monarch)

Chapter 20

~REX’S POV~

Cursing myself for sleeping with that scumbag this morning, I crawled under the covers. My Reina is distrustful of everyone. No, I have my doubts. I had the impression that she had a problem with males. What happened to my wife and how did it happen? I was unable to sleep. I swung to the left side of the room.

Was she raped by those mutts?

I could hear someone in bed trembling. When I awoke, I saw her fighting in her dream. She was tossing and turning and dripping with sweat simultaneously. She opens her mouth as if to speak. I rose and took a step closer to her. I was expecting her to give me a moniker. With only one name, the world would be turned upside down. I examined her thoroughly. She had a tattoo on her wrist that appeared to be a face, but I couldn’t tell who it was.

How is it possible for someone to be sleeping and fighting at the same time? Was Reina abused in any way? Who was responsible for that? Why hasn’t she been able to develop her lycanthropy? Could it be that she is unable to shift as she did previously? Could it be that she was anticipating my arrival? All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

I placed my hands across my chest, keeping a safe distance. I’m only looking for a moniker. Please, Reina, limit yourself to a single name. And I pledge to you, whoever did this will pay a high price. Nobody touches my property and walks away freely, nobody. Then I noticed she was clutching her throat so tightly.

Why is she choking on her own snot?

I dashed to her bed and roused her.

“Juno, Juno, Reina, wake up!”

Her eyes widened, and she leaped on me to embrace me. She broke down in tears. However, once she realized she was hugging me, she pushed me away. I was enraged but had no idea who I was enraged at. Whether it was because my Reina pushed me away from her or because I had no idea what was wrong with her, I got up and searched for sweatpants. I wore them and took a position near the window.

~Juno’s POV~

I found myself jumping to Rex for comfort after experiencing a horrible dream. However, I soon understood he was a male and he might rape me as well. I shoved him away with such force that he fell on the floor, clutching his ass. He rose to his feet, walked over to the closet, and selected a pair of sweatpants to wear. I wasn’t sure what was going on, but he appeared to be really upset.

Was he intending to beat me?

I noticed his eyes turning green. I swear I noticed a change in his face to something else, but what? I have no idea, but that scared the very daylights out of me. He stood near the window and sent a brief glance my way. As I saw something soaring with golden wings, a strong blast of wind nearly knocked me off the bed.

What on earth is going on?

I walked over to the window. I was simply aware of the wind. Nobody was present. My stomach knotted as I attempted to make sense of what I had just witnessed.

What exactly did Rex transform into?

I dropped my head and began peering out the window, but saw nothing. I was unable to sleep. I was standing and moving in circles around the room, waiting for him to return. I desired an explanation from him.

Who or what is he?

~REX’S POV~

No one dares to touch Reina.

Rex was enraged. He was circling the forest’s edges from the skies, looking for the wolves who were after his Reina today. While he was flying, he noticed a bonfire deep in the woods.

I haven’t been cruel to anyone, he grinned. Despite the fact that he believed in fair judgment, he felt these mutts deserved what was coming to them. His golden scales glowed in the moonlight, and his eyes changed color from green to flaming. His nosedive towards the bonfire caused him to make a sharp turn. He landed right in the fire and fixed his wings before going out. The group of men saw green; they all yearned to shift but were unable to shift. Rex reverts to his human form.

“Now, gentlemen, you were pursuing a girl earlier today. “Are you willing to explain why?”

“Oh, that girl, umm, you see, umm.” One of them stammered.

He became irritated by the man’s uhms. He thrust his palm directly into his heart and jerked it out, his corpse falling to the ground in front of his pack members. He pointed to one of them, his right hand clutching on the pounding heart of the dead man.

“Next! I don’t have the whole day, you know. Are you going to speak?” He inquired of the gentleman.

“Umm..” Rex didn’t allow him to utter another Uhm, he ripped out his heart and held it with his other hand. Both Rex’s hands were clutching pounding hearts.

“Next!” The man recalled that the other men’s hearts had been ripped out when they uttered umms. His eyes widened.

“Speak up, boy! I have little time for you to beat around the bush.”

“We’ve been tracking her for almost a month now. We realized she was alone, and we required a female member in our pack. She’d been sleeping in the streets. We assumed she was strong since she occasionally plunged into the snow and slept there. We desired that she be our woman. Why are you inquiring? She is merely a homeless girl. Probably a good number of males have already had their fill of..” Rex refused to let the man finish. As he swooped back into the sky, fireballs formed in his mouth and he spits fire on the man, reducing him to a burned skeleton. He gracefully plummeted from the heavens. He fixed his gaze on the men in front of him. The men saw horror. Rex wiped his mouth with his hand, his eyes were so fiery that one wrong move from the troops’ fire could emerge from them.

“Can you give me a reason I should give you grace instead of a punishment?”

His eyes were fixated on them. “Are you certain you know who you wanted to rape today?” Each of them shook their heads.

“Well, let me tell you. You moronic wretches desired to rape my Reina. Your queen. Why should I have mercy on you?” The King questioned.

They all remained silent as if they had lost their ability to speak.

“Regardless, are you planning on saying anything, or do you want me to play a game with you instead? It’s going to be entertaining, just like the game you played with your queen before. The only difference this time is that you’ll be running for your lives.”

Rex freed them from his authority. They all start to shift into their wolves and flee the scene in panic. While he was deliberating which beast to release to deal with them, the no-name beast emerged. He was running out of patience. She was his Reina, and they would all pay the price. All of them realized they were screwed as soon as their heads turned to look behind them and met with the monster he had shifted into. They were well aware he was the monarch and they also knew there was no way they would outrun him. The beast was faster.

When he started running, he was already ripping out their hearts within seconds of starting. He made certain that he counted their hearts as if it were a fun game for him. They all perished at the hands of him. He then reverted to his dragon form and he flew back home, entering the room through the same window. Juno maintained a brisk pace, attempting to comprehend what Rex was. Upon seeing her and locking their gaze with her, he realized that his entire body was covered in blood. The grey sweatpants he was wearing at the time were also covered in blood. He didn’t know how he was going to explain this to her. Juno was so terrified of what she was looking at.

~Juno’s POV~

Even though I was still awake, I was startled when I saw Rex enter in through the window, blood splattered all over his body.

I initially believed he was injured, but I could tell he was not. He almost certainly caused harm to someone. He attempted to approach me, but I took a step back. What is Rex exactly? He was clearly disappointed that I was afraid of him. He entered the bathroom and emerged with a towel wrapped around his waist. He removed another pair of sweatpants and wore them out of the bathroom. He sat atop the bed, and I shifted to the bed’s corner. My fear of him made him angry, and I could tell he was hurt by it. He made no attempt to make eye contact with me. He didn’t want to see the look on my face, since I was afraid.

“I slaughtered every single one of those men that were pursuing you today.” I noticed him averting his sight away from me. I was terrified, but not of him or what he might do. What if he tries to kill me as well?

“Do you hate me for murdering them?”

Do I hate him for assassinating the men who tried to rape me?” I wonder. I hate men, but I do not hate Rex for killing them.

I’ve never been violent, so why am I relieved that they’re no longer alive? Would Alex’s death be enough satisfaction for me?
