Grandma May replied, “Some are azaleas, some are magnolias, and some are crepe myrtles. The magnolias will bloom in March, but the crepe myrtle will only bloom in the summer. They were planted to bloom in intervals so that we'll always see blooming flowers all year round.

“After the New Year, once the plum blossoms have bloomed, you guys should come back and go with me for a flower viewing. We have cherry blossoms too—they’re all grown here on the manor grounds.

“In June, you can enjoy the lotuses. We have that the most.”

Grandma May smiled. “I just love flowers and plants, and having them on my own land. When fresh flowers take turns blooming during their season, they just look so vibrant and lively. It makes people feel much better.”

Because of the old lady’s interest, that was how Wildridge Manor came into existence. The ladies who married into the York family afterward could enjoy it too.

“Nana.” Callum jogged over to her.

After greeting his nana as well as Serenity and Jasmine, his gaze finally turned to his beloved wife and he said, “It’s cold today. Why didn’t you sleep a little while longer?”

She had come out before he even returned from his morning run.

Camryn replied, “I slept by myself for a little while, but couldn’t sleep any longer, so | thought | might as well get up.

“Now that the sun is up, it doesn’t feel as cold anymore.”

“You call this cold? It used to be really cold, but now, with global warming, it’s not even cold anymore,” Grandma May remarked. In her memory when she was a child, winter days in Wiltspoon were cold throughout.

She did not know when it started, but the winters had gotten less cold.

Callum smiled. “Nana, Serenity, are you guys going to view the flowers? Have you had breakfast?”

“Not yet,” Serenity answered. “Zachary’s gone to help. Austin alone can’t manage.”

Sensibly, Callum said, “Then I'll go help them after | get changed. We'll call you guys back for breakfast once we’re done. “Nana, you should only head out after you’ve had breakfast.”

The old lady smiled and said, “Alright, then. Once done with breakfast, the few of us can head down for flower viewing. I'll take you guys ‘round to the plum blossom patch. Although it’s not their season yet, you guys should familiarize yourselves with our family’s land.”

Grandma May even said to Serenity, “Seren, you're the oldest and will eventually be the lady of this household. You need to familiarize yourself with what we have and with the spread of the land.

“| don’t think you’ve seen the plum blossoms here before, have you?” Serenity answered honestly, “Nope. I’ve only seen the lotuses.”

She had been the eldest young Mrs. York for a while now, but had not spent much time at the manor. All she knew was that all the land from the bottom to the top of where Wildridge Manor sat belonged to the Yorks. There were a few neighboring hills that the Yorks had spent quite a lot of money acquiring too.

“| know how many businesses and properties are under the management of us women and | have a general idea of how much land we own.”

Serenity was a little embarrassed. “I haven’t quite gotten up to speed yet.”
