Darren said gently, “I can go shopping with you tomorrow evening.”

Caroline smiled. “You’ve been extremely busy lately, and you have more things to handle than | do. Since | rarely get a day off, you should rest too.

“Just as you said, even the healthiest person won't be able to handle working at such high intensity every day.” Darren was busier than Caroline. He had to know a lot of things.

Whenever she asked him something, he needed to provide an answer and help her.

As for some minor issues, he would also handle them by himself without needing her approval.

Her situation only improved slightly when their neighbors criticized her adoptive parents for treating their only daughter poorly and even freezing her to death.

When the voices of criticism got louder, only then would Caroline's adoptive mother give her a few of her brothers’ old clothes. Getting new clothes was merely wishful thinking.

That was why she did not feel grateful to her adoptive parents for raising her at all, especially after knowing she was a Fisher. If it were not for her adoptive father’s greed, Caroline would not have been switched at birth.

Instead, she would have been raised by her biological parents. Even if she were not an outstanding child, she would never get hungry, cold, or bullied.

Even after switching her out, her adoptive father mistreated her. Her being separated from her biological parents was all her adoptive parents’ fault.

Before being picked up by the Fisher family, Caroline told Belinda to pay her adoptive mother some money as compensation for raising her.

Of course, the money was taken back right after by Belinda.

Caroline did not care.

She had already given her adoptive mother money as repayment for raising her. Whether her adoptive mother could hold on to the money depended on her abilities. “You should make some friends, Ms. Caroline,” said Darren.

“You can meet up with them during the weekends.”
