Serenity and Zachary York

Chapter 3137

Chapter 3137

After a moment of silence, Austin answered, “I can’t do anything about it. I’d just be an employee. I might not be able to spend Christmas at home this year.”

Tania scowled fiercely.

Her precious baby boy was someone’s employee instead of staying home as a pampered young master.

“You’re telling Nana yourself about not coming home for Christmas,” Tania grumbled. “I don’t know what you’re thinking. Why did you go so far when Christmas is around the corner? You don’t even know when you’ll be back.”

In Austin’s words, he was going to be an employee and he could not do anything about it.

He could not come and go as he wished.

“By the way, do the O’Connors only have one chef? If there are more than one, you could at least rotate your leaves for Christmastime. Employees do get personal time off, mind you. All our employees have to do is tell Sam in advance they’re taking leave and he’ll arrange for cover.

“Work doesn’t interfere with them spending the holidays with their family at all. Christmas is a time for reunion and our family can only all be together then. You just had to go so far.” NôvelDrama.Org content.

Tania was in a bad mood at the very thought of Austin not being around for Christmas.

Austin replied, “Mom, I don’t even know if I’ll get the job yet. We’ll talk after I really do. I can’t say for sure right now if I’ll be able to go home for Christmas.

“If you don’t get it, come home immediately. You can go back there after Christmas.”

“Okay.” Austin agreed to whatever his mother said, not wanting her to be in a bad mood.

After finally coaxing his mother and hanging up, Austin muttered to himself, “When Zack and I were young, you guys were never around. Sometimes, we wouldn’t see you for eighteen months straight.

“Now that you guys are retired and it’s our turn to be busy with our lives, you want us to spend time with you at home every day.”

After his parents grew older, they saw things differently and even felt differently about their children.

The brothers could not say that their parents did not love them, but when they were young, the parents bore heavy burdens and the boys preferred staying with Grandma May. That was why Liam and Tania entrusted them to the Old Mr. and Mrs. York. Naturally, they spent a lot less time with the boys.

On the other end of the line, Tania sighed as she sat on the sofa after hanging up on Austin.

Through the reading glasses perched on his nose bridge, Liam could not help but look up from his newspaper when he heard her sigh. He asked with amusement, “You’ve talked to him over the phone, so why are you sighing so much? He’s just gone out of state. It’s not the first time either, so do you have to keep worrying about him all day long?

“You never worried this much about them when they were young. They’re all adults now and have gained some life experience. What are you so worried about?”

Tania sighed, “Christmas is right around the corner and Austin has gone so far away to be someone else’s private chef. In his words, he’s a salaryman now. He doesn’t even know if he’ll be able to take off for the holidays.”

“If he doesn’t, then so be it. It’s enough to know that he’s doing well over there. Next year, he might be bringing a girlfriend home for Christmas, you know.” Liam folded up his newspaper and

chuckled. “Christmas next year will be very lively. Our grandson will probably be quite a few months old by then. Who do you think Zack and Serenity’s child will resemble more, Tania?”
