Chapter 45 – Let’s Talk!
'I'm dead tired!'
One reason why Jada doesn't want to be a maid of honor was because being one is more like being the nanny of the bride. It could get very exhausting.
The reception and everything else ended at around seven in the evening. When they've secured all the gifts for the couple, she decides to go back to the hotel.
While on the bed, trying to sleep, she checked her phone first to see if there were any important messages there. She did receive a couple of them but most are from their friends. Steve: Ja, where are you? Let's grab some drinks.
Ada: Byotch, we're here in Steve's room. Come on over!
Bambi: J4, dont sl33p y3t. Join u$!
But since she was so tired, she didn't bother replying to any one of them. Jada decided to close her eyes until she eventually fell asleep.
However, she was awoken by the non-stop buzzing in her room. She checked on the time and it's only past one in the morning.
In a daze, she pushed herself off of the bed to check who was at her door. When she opened it, Jada was surprised to see Lyken leaning on the doorframe looking drunk.
As she walked closer to him, he suddenly fell, unable to keep his balance. "Oh my God! What happened to you?"
He's reeking alcohol and can't even stand up on his own as he was so drunk. Jada tried her best to help him to her bed, though at some point, she almost fell with him.
His lips are pale and beads of sweat are visible on his forehead. Upon seeing that, she ran towards the kitchen to look for something she could use as a basin.
She saw one inside the lower cabinet, took it and placed it next to the bed. As soon as she sat down, he started throwing up. Jada gritted her teeth.
She never expected she'd be playing the role of the nanny up to the next day. Nanny of the bride yesterday, nanny of the drunkard today.
He coughed as he vomited so she ran her hand on his back, tapping it from time to time. He's drenched in sweat and his shirt is already wet.
When he was done calling crows, Jada took the basin back to the sink and cleaned it up. She filled it again with water and put the towel in it.
Jada started wiping Lyken's face down to his neck. She worked on taking his shirt off and started wiping his body as well.
She let him rest on her bed, covering him with a blanket. Jada, on the other hand, plopped on the couch to continue her sleep.
She's only been lying for no more than ten minutes when she heard Lyken groaning. As if he's having a bad dream.
Irritated, she kicked in the air and pushed herself up. She sat next to him on the bed. His forehead creased and he was breathing heavily. She wanted to wake him up but then she heard him calling for her. 'You, not Josefin. You!'
"Ly, are you ok?" she asked, tapping him by the shoulder. "Does something hurt?"
He didn't respond to Jada. After a while, she saw something glistening in the corner of his eyes. 'Why is he crying?'
Jada felt something pinch her heart. She wiped his tears with her thumb. 'Why am I feeling hurt without knowing what's happening to him?'NôvelDrama.Org © content.
She stayed by his side until she fell asleep next to him. Then again, she woke up with something heavy on her waist, it was Lyken's leg.
She tried to stand up, carefully removing his arm and leg but then he hugged her. "Jada, please stay," she heard him whisper.
Jada felt her body stiffen. She laid her head back on the pillow and his hug tightened. She wanted to enjoy the moment but it felt so wrong.
He's already engaged. This is cheating and she's not one for that. She knows how it feels to be cheated and Jada doesn't want the same to happen to any other woman.
Trying her best to remove his arm again, Lyken didn't react. But when she stood up, he pulled her back to the bed and hugged her tightly.
She was facing him and he could see the creases on his forehead. Placing a leg over her, Lyken inched closer to her neck.
"Don't leave me, Ja. I wouldn't know what to do anymore if you leave me again."
He was quiet after that but Jada can feel something wet in her neck and shoulder. She backed a bit and cupped his face. "Ly, why are you crying?"
Again, she didn't get any response. He just forced himself to open his eyes and stared at her. Lyken was just staring at Jada, unmoved.
"I'm sorry Ja, again... for everything," he whispered and she nodded at him. "And I love you... so much!" Jada wanted to nod in response but then she remembered Josefin again. Before she could react, tears started flowing from her eyes, too. She wasn't able to stop it so she just moved closer to him, her face on his chest. She doesn't know what to say. 'How can I answer that when I know that he's already chosen who he wants to spend his life with? At the end of it all, it's Josefin and not me.' Almost an hour passed, with not one of them moving. They're just laying on the bed, hugging one another, until they both fall asleep. When she woke up, it was already bright and shiny outside, but he was still not moving. After a while, someone's buzzing again. "I'll just get our breakfast, Ly," she whispered. He let go of her and when she came back, he was already sitting on the side of the bed. "Jada..." he called.
"Hmm?"
She pretended to be busy taking the plates from the cart and moving them to the table. She wanted to talk to him too, but not right now. Not now when he only has his shorts on. "Can we talk?" he asked sweetly.
Jada just nodded, then she asked him to join her for breakfast. She sat on the couch with a plate in her hand and he sat next to her.
'Can we talk? How can I concentrate on our talk when I'm seeing his shining, shimmering abs?'
"What are we going to talk about?" Jada asked without looking at him.
"About what happened yesterday," he stated.
"What about yesterday? What happened?"
"I hate the dress you changed into," he blurted out.
Jada can't help but chuckle as she finds herself really silly for thinking there's something else he wanted them to talk about. "Aren' you used to that yet? I usually dress like that, Ly." "I don't know if I've told you before, but I really hate it when other people look at your legs. Your back, Your chest. I feel irritated. I feel mad!"
"What should we do then? Should we make those people go blind?" She teased but he just pouted at her.
"Ja, I'm serious. Can you please stop wearing clothes that will attract other guys' attention?" he asked with a straight face.
He was serious about it and she's a bit taken aback. She didn't expect that her clothing style was a huge issue for him.
"I'll try!" She responded just so the conversation would end.
"There's one more thing I want us to talk about?" he said again.
"What is it this time?"
"About my engagement..."
