Julien and Sydney were running out of vegetables, so the two of them got out of the car and headed straight to an upscale supermarket to buy some groceries. Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
It was Julien's first time buying groceries.
Although he cooked from time to time, the ingredients were always prepared in advance by Sydney.
And they had never run out of supplies before.
Going shopping with Sydney was a new experience for him.
They walked in a high-end supermarket, and Sydney took a cart.
But just as she was about to push it, a pair of large hands reached out and took the cart away from her.
Sydney's hand froze in midair, and she looked back at Julien. "What's wrong?"
"I'll push it," Julien replied, slightly raising his chin as a signal for her to look ahead.
Sydney looked over but found nothing strange. She couldn't help but ask, "What am I supposed to be looking at?"
Julien sighed under his breath. "I want you to see that all the men here are pushing the carts, and I should do the same. It's a privilege of ladies, and this kind of physical work should be done by men."
With that, he patted the handle of the cart.
Sydney couldn't help but laugh. "Okay. It's all yours."
"Yeah!" Julien hummed.
A mischievous glint flashed in Sydney's eyes. "Actually, I was planning to let you push it."
"Oh?" Julien raised an eyebrow.
Sydney grabbed his arm and shook it. "You see, the other men here are all pushing the carts. If I didn't let you push one, wouldn't the others laugh at you? It's embarrassing to let a lady push the cart, isn't it?"
Julien chuckled. "Oh? Is that so?"
"Yeah!" Sydney nodded eagerly.
Julien extended his index finger and tapped her forehead. "If I didn't push the cart, perhaps those women would laugh at me, but those men would envy me, don't you think?"
"They can envy you, but as a gentleman, can you really bear to let a lady do this?" Sydney lifted her head, smirking at him.
She acted as if she would teach him a lesson if he nodded.
The smile in Julien's eyes deepened. "I can't bear it, of course. My woman only needs to enjoy a lifetime of happiness. Alright, let's go."
He grasped the handle of the shopping cart with both hands and was about to push it into the supermarket when Sydney called out, "Wait."
"What's wrong?" Julien stopped.
Sydney pointed to a couple who walked past them. "You only noticed the man pushing the cart. Didn't you see the lady's actions?"
Julien raised an eyebrow and looked at the couple.
He immediately understood what Sydney meant.
A slight smile curled his lips, and his right arm slightly bent as he looked at Sydney.
Sydney gave a sweet smile and held onto his arm.
"I didn't expect you to understand what I meant." Sydney wrapped her hands around his arm and walked into the supermarket with him.
She was leaning against him so closely that he could feel her breasts rubbing against his arm.
Julien's eyes darkened, and his Adam's apple moved up and down. Even his voice turned a bit hoarse. "Your husband is not a fool. How could I not understand?"
"Bah! You're not my husband." Sydney blushed, glaring at him.
Julien smiled. "I will be."
"Who knows?" Sydney muttered, pouting and blushing up to her ears.
If it weren't for the fact that they were in a bustling supermarket, he would have pinned her against the wall, pinched her face, and bit her.
Sensing his ardent gaze, Sydney blushed further and lightly slapped him. Glaring at him, she warned in a low voice, "Don't mess around."
Julien's voice remained hoarse. "I won't. I will do it at home."
The corner of Sydney's mouth twitched.
'This guy is hopeless.'
But she didn't bother to bicker with him.
Instead, she held onto his arm once again and snorted to herself.
Inside the supermarket, Julien looked at the rows of products and raised an eyebrow.
Sydney saw it and instantly figured out the situation. Smiling, she asked, "Is this your first time in a place like this?"
Julien neither confirmed nor denied it. "I never need to go shopping myself. Things I need are delivered to me at fixed times. I never have to worry about it or come to places like this. I visited the mall before, though, and it's similar to a supermarket."
"There are some differences." Sydney put a bag of bananas into the cart.
This was an upscale supermarket.
The items there were carefully selected imported products from abroad, which was quite convenient for the customers. They could just take random ones.
It undoubtedly saved them a lot of time.
The supermarket was opened near Shallow Bay, an upscale neighborhood, because most of the residents there were billionaires.
And these rich people were their target customers.
Seeing that Sydney had only picked up a bag of bananas, Julien looked at the other fruits and asked, "Don't you want anything else?"
Sydney shook her head and replied, "No, I rarely eat fruits. I'll only get some bananas to make salads."
"That won't do." Julien furrowed his eyebrows and put some other fruits into the cart. "I've been too busy lately to pay attention to your diet. Now that I know, I'll make sure you eat more fruits."
Then he saw something else and pushed the cart over. From the shelf, he picked up some precious fruits and placed them in the cart.
Soon, the cart was almost filled.
Sydney was amused. "Why did you get so many of them? How can we finish all of these? Put some of them back."
She hurried over and tried to take a few fruits out of the cart.
Julien grabbed her wrist to stop her. "No. I bought them for you. What are you going to eat if you take them out?"
He flicked her hand away and moved the cart to the other side so that she couldn't reach it.
Sydney put her hand on her forehead. "Just a few kinds of fruits are enough for me. How long will it take me to finish all of these?"
"You can put them in the refrigerator," Julien replied firmly, refusing to take any fruits out of the cart.
He bought these fruits just for her.
They were good for health, and he would not let her take them out.
Sydney found his determined look both funny and annoying.
Suddenly, a loud clicking sound came from behind them.
Due to the scandal that had happened during the day, Sydney was sensitive to the sound of cameras.
Her face instantly fell as she knew that someone was secretly taking photos of them.
She thought it was a paparazzo trying to create another news story with their photos.
So, she quickly turned around and prepared to warn the paparazzo. To her surprise, there was only a girl who looked like a high school student.
She didn't seem to be a paparazzo.
