Chapter 98 Can You Cook?
The car drove to a high-end residential complex two miles away from Sisson Tower.
The movers moved in Amanda’s belongings one after another and piled them up in the living room.
“Be gentle.”
“Jamie, everything has been moved. Do you want to…”
“Shh.” Jamie hushed and waved his hand to let everyone else go. He looked back and saw his boss and Miss Jewell standing outside the balcony and talking. The scene was heart-warming.
Jamie put the key on the contract and left quietly.
At this time on the balcony, Amanda put her hands on the windowsill and said excitedly, “There’s actually a balcony here, and there’s a lake right there. We can plant a few pots of flowers on the balcony later.”This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“What flowers do you like?”
“Any kind. Something that can grow easily would be better. I can’t afford to raise the kind that is too delicate.”
“I’ll remember. I’ll send it to you tomorrow.”
“Alright.”
She turned around with a bright smile on her face. The afternoon sun shone on her, making her whole body sparkle and shine.
Seeing this scene, Iverson’s cold eyes became as gentle as melted icebergs.
Their eyes met and Amanda’s stomach let out an awkward noise. She abruptly covered her stomach and the smile on her face froze. “Cough, cough…”
Iverson held back his laughter. “Hungry?”
“No!”
Just when she was about to deny it, her stomach growled again.
Why did it have to be at this time?
Amanda was so embarrassed that she wished she could find a hole to hide in.
“Let’s go out for dinner.”
“No need. Let’s eat at home.”
Amanda stopped Iverson. “It will take a long time for us to get out of here now.”
Puzzled, Iverson asked, “I thought you didn’t know how to cook?”
“It shouldn’t be a problem to cook noodles.”
Amanda looked around as she walked into the house. “Huh? Where’s Jamie? Where’s he?”
Seeing the key on the table, Iverson understood. “He’s busy, so he has to go back to work.”
“It’s the weekend. He is too dedicated. The Byran Group is treating people like robots.”
Amanda complained a little, but the Byran Group was still the place that countless people scrambled to enter. Even the words “Byran Group” written on the resume would help them expand their business.
“Do you need any help?”
Iverson leaned against the kitchen door.
Amanda rolled up her sleeves, holding a knife in one hand and a tomato in the other. She waved her hand heroically, and the knife flashed. “No need, I can handle it.”
Iverson took a small step back, wondering if he should order some takeaway first, but when he saw how confident Amanda was, he gave up the idea.
More than ten minutes later, Amanda brought out two bowls of noodles.
Iverson sat upright and still. He crossed his arms as he studied the bowl of noodles in front of him. “This should be instant noodles, right?”
“How can my noodles be called instant noodles?”
Amanda said matter-of-factly, “Even if it’s instant noodles, I’ve added eggs, luncheon meat, tomatoes, and cucumber to it.”
It was still instant noodles.
Iverson took a sip.
The taste of the instant noodles seasoning was not heavy, but more of the taste of the ingredients mixed together after being boiled in the same pot, reminded him of the first time Amanda had treated him to a meal at the convenience store.
“How is it?”
Amanda hadn’t eaten yet and was still holding her chopsticks with a questioning expression.
Seeing that Iverson did not speak, she sighed helplessly and said, “Just deal with it. I only know how to cook instant noodles. We would have to wait if we go out to eat anyways.”
“It’s delicious.”
Amanda was stunned. “Really?”
“Really.”
Only then did Amanda smile. She pretended to not care. “I don’t know if it’s true or not. You have to eat all the food, and don’t leave any at all.”
“Alright.”
Iverson smiled faintly.
Amanda was stunned and hurriedly lowered her head to eat her noodles, covering up his panic with the sound of eating.
After dinner, Amanda began to clean up the house.
She had thought that Iverson would leave her alone, but instead, he took off his suit, rolled up the sleeves of his shirt, and started moving the suitcase. “Where should I put this?”
“Put it over there.” Amanda came to her senses and hurriedly pointed at the kitchen. “Put it in the kitchen cabinet.”
Looking at Iverson hurrying in and out, Amanda suddenly felt very touched.
She had been with Halley Sean for three years and he had never done housework. When she asked about it, he just said there were servants at home and he did not need to do anything. Although it was true, she always felt that life lacked a sense of realism.
Iverson had been born with a silver spoon in his mouth, so logically speaking, he also never did housework. Moreover, he was usually cold and aloof, but she had not expected him to do this for her.
“I’ll take care of the rest. Go and have a rest.”
“No need.” Iverson chased Amanda out of the living room. “Go get me a glass of water.”
Amanda had no choice but to pour him a glass of water.
After they finally cleaned up, both of them leaned against the sofa.
Iverson wrapped his arm around Amanda and pulled her into his embrace.
Amanda’s heart thumped for a while, she couldn’t get used to it at first. In the end, she leaned against his chest and calmed down.
Iverson said, “The bidding results will be announced next Monday.”
“What was the result?”
“What do you think?”
Amanda broke free from his embrace and straightened her back. “You’re not telling me this to avoid arousing suspicion and to kick Safe Home out, are you?”
Iverson didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Did you hear that from my words?”
Only then did Amanda let out a sigh of relief.
“Then aren’t you afraid of others saying that you cheated to help me?”
“Half of the judges are from the Planning Bureau, and the other half are experts. The Byran Group has less than a third of the judges.”
“That’s one-third of it. Besides, as long as you want to ask for help, you can totally tell them, right?”
Amanda said forcefully, “So, regardless of whether I advanced by virtue of my own strength or not, people will question whether I cheated or not. When the time comes, there will be so many rumors, which should have a great impact on you.”
“So? Will you give up?”
“Of course not,” Amanda raised her eyebrows and said, “I’ve already said that I used my own strength. In the first round of judgment by the expert group, our Safe Home Real Estate has the highest score, which is the result of our company’s hard work. We are upright and are not afraid of the rumors. Why should we give up just because we are afraid of gossip?”
“You’re so confident you can win on your own?”
Iverson reminded her, “You have to be prepared. If someone wants to start a price war with you, the judges will not just consider the score of the first round.”
Amanda frowned slightly. “Are you talking about the Sean Group?”
There was a problem with the Sean Group’s cash flow. They urgently needed the company to transfer the money to the bank, so even if there was no profit, they would still do this project in desperation.
That was also what Amanda had been worried about.
