“Back then … did you really have a relationship with Jayden?”

Elena’s fake smile faded away. Swallowing her saliva slowly, Elena replied calmly, “Yes. Even long before you matched Jayden and Hera we were already lovers.”

Such an honest and clear statement. After all, why did Elena have to cover up their relationship again? After all, soon she will marry Jayden.

Jane didn’t seem surprised by Elena’s confession. Did the woman know beforehand? Just confirming it to justify the argument. Most likely yes.

The woman smiled faintly. “Jayden should have told us this at the time,” Jane said.

“You are right.” Jane nodded in agreement. “Then, from now on you should get used to calling me Mama,” she continued holding Elena’s hand.

Even though it sounded very awkward, Elena still said it. It had been a long time since Elena had called someone by that name. She had even forgotten the last time she had said that word. Even so, Elena didn’t miss her at all. The feeling is still normal. Nothing has changed. Instead, the title reminded him of a person she desperately wanted to forget.

“Let’s choose a wedding dress for you,” said Jane then to her future daughter-in-law, interrupting Elena’s daydream who knows where she is.

Elena thought that Jane would only accompany her to choose a wedding dress. But apparently the woman also helped Elena check the reception building, invitations and other preparations. Elena really found it very helpful.

Now they are on their way home. Jane who was sitting beside Elena turned her head and smiled at her.

“You’re welcome. Hope your event goes well until the vows and reception are over,” said Jane.

They didn’t realize they had arrived in front of the house where Hera and Jayden used to live. Jane was silent for a long time, staring at the house.

“You two live together here?” asked Jane.

“Yeah. Since Hera moved in, Jayden and I have been living in this house.”

Jane just nodded slowly. “Oh I see.”

“Don’t you want to stop by first?”

“No need. You just rest. You must be very tired all day, right?”

Elena’s heart warmed at the attention of Jane. She’s really very happy.

“Okay. Then I’ll go in first. See you later, Ma,” said Elena then got out of the car.

The woman waved until her future mother-in-law’s black car disappeared around the corner. Elena still couldn’t believe that she could be this close to Jayden’s mother. The woman was a friendly and loving person. Elena was left wondering why Jayden hadn’t introduced her to his family before.

Was it really because of Elena’s messy family situation? If later the Jayden family found out about Elena’s real condition, then they would not accept that woman? If so, she must bury Elena’s past deeply.

Elena rushed into the house. The atmosphere in the house is still quiet, indicating that Jayden hasn’t come home yet.

“Bibi, Jayden isn’t home yet?” Elena asked her as she took off her jacket and gave it to the woman.

“Not yet, Miss,” said Bibi quietly.

Elena raised one eyebrow. Raised hand to look at the clock. It’s already 06:23 pm. This is past Jayden’s promise.

“Isn’t the show over after lunch? Why isn’t Jayden home yet?” muttered Elena. “Is he back at the office again?” Elena kept asking herself where Jayden was without wanting to contact the man.

Her body felt so sticky that Elena chose to clean herself first before calling Jayden if he didn’t come home in the next thirty minutes.

It turned out that Jayden came while Elena was still in the bathroom. The man woke his body that felt very tired on the sofa. He even closed his eyes tightly before Elena’s voice could be heard.

“You just got home?” asked Elena coming closer to Jayden and sitting next to him.

“Hmm.” Jayden answered with a low cough.

“Didn’t the auction finish this afternoon? Then why did you only come home now?”

“Juan got food poisoning and went to the hospital. I was there all day,” Jayden replied in a slightly hoarse voice. His throat felt so dry he got up from the couch and headed for the kitchen to get a drink. Elena followed the man’s footsteps behind.

“Oh, so that’s why you couldn’t come to the boutique and take care of our wedding preparations today,” said Elena chuckling softly afterward. Jayden knew she was being sarcastic.

Jayden rolled his eyes lazily. He looked at Elena who was standing, leaning against the kitchen entrance.

“Juan is in the hospital. My son is in the hospital, Elena. Don’t you understand?”

Jayden deliberately suppressed the words that came out of his mouth because the woman didn’t seem to want to understand the situation.

“I see. I totally understand,” said Elena, crossing her arms across her chest. “But our wedding is also important, Jayden. Do you want it all to be canceled again?”

Brak!!!

Jayden placed the glass he had been drinking heavily on the table. Elena was shocked to make it.

“You think I want my son to be hospitalized until critical?” Jayden asked annoyed. “Really, Elena. I’m not in the mood to fight with you just over this matter. Please understand a little.”

Elena’s lips trembled. “Who wants to fight with you, Jayden? I’m just reminding you that our marriage is also important.”

“But my son’s life is more important!” Jayden threw a sharp glare at Elena.

The man was already quite annoyed by Hera’s words earlier, and now Elena is burdening him with all the wedding preparations. Can’t anyone understand Jayden’s current state? He just needed peace at this point.

No one spoke again because Jayden chose to leave. Elena could only be silent when she heard the sound of Jayden’s car engine getting further and further away from the house.
