Chapter 15
DANNY
I haven’t seen or heard from Kyle in a week. I mean I know I said that we need to cool it down, but this seems a bit extreme. It’s like he has no middle ground or something.
Jordan however won’t go away. I am sure he is trying to weasel in on the bet. Steal Kyle’s virgin or whatever. I am not buying it. Today he followed me home after class. “So, I was thinking we could go out for a movie or something. It should be pretty chill, most people will be at that party.”
“No thanks. I might go to the party with Kyle.”
“But I haven’t seen him around in days. If you want to go to the party you can go with me.”
“I’ll just wait and talk to Kyle.”
He lets out a big sigh. “I hate to be the one to break this to you, but I think Kyle is seeing someone else.”
“Really.” This is news to me.
“Come to the party with me and you will see.”
I bite my lip thinking about it. I would like to know what is going on with Kyle, like if he doesn’t need me anymore. This would be a good thing to know. “Alright. I will go to the party with you, but it is not a date.”
“Yeah, cool. I’ll be here at about seven.”
“Ok.”
I don’t want to go to this party. I just want to know what is going on. I texted Kyle to see what he would say, nothing all day. So now here it is seven and Jordan is at my door. Courtney insisted I wear one of her dresses. It’s tight, and I hate it, but she says I look hot. She also said that a little black dress is a classic and I should embrace it. Yeah, not sure about that. She even put my hair up in a ponytail to show off my neck, her words.
Jordan is staring at me as he stands in my doorway. “Wow, you look great.”
“It’s Courtney’s.” I fidget with the hem. “I guess we should get going.”
“Um, yeah.” He shakes his head a little but he puts his arm out for me to take.
I take it, reluctantly. I don’t want him getting the wrong idea. He keeps taking peeks at me as we drive to the party. It’s the same as the last one. Way too many people in a crowded place. I am pretty sure it is a different house, but it’s all the same shit. I don’t want to drink this time. I don’t want to wear it.
Jordan puts his arm around my shoulders. “Hey, want to dance?”
“Um, not yet.” I don’t want to at all.
Jordan pulls us around the house, like I am his date. It isn’t until we have gone around the whole house that I see Kyle. He is close to Pearson. They are laughing about something. Kelly, the brunette that hates me, is draped all over him. I kind of figured they were a thing, the way she treated me. He could have been honest. He’s never lied to me before.
Jordan pulls me closer to him. “I’m sorry. I tried to tell you.”
I turn and smile at him. “It’s alright. We weren’t that serious. I just wish he had told me. That’s all.”
“Do you want to go?”
“No, it’s fine. You want a drink?” Why do I feel this pain in my chest? It wasn’t anything. I was nothing to him and he made it clear the whole time. Sure he kissed me a lot and made me think that maybe he wanted me, but he said that it was all pretend. He was honest and clear, I was just the fucked up one.
“Yeah, sure.” He keeps his arm around my shoulder and leads us back to the kitchen area. After we both get our drinks, we are kind of just standing around in the corner. “So, this party kind of sucks huh?”
“Not really sure. I don’t have many to compare them to.”
“Well, then we need to get you out more often. How about tomorrow I take you out to this concert in the park, it should be a lot of fun.”
“Sounds good. Mainly I have just been around the house.”All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Then let’s get you out.” Sure I can have fun. I know I am not sleeping with Jordan. I can have fun with him until he runs off.
He’s talking about some of the bands when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn and see Kelly. “Hey,” I say.
She sneers at me. “What the hell are you doing here?”
“I was invited.” Like Duh.
“Kyle isn’t interested anymore. Stop trying to flaunt it in front of him.”
“I don’t even see Kyle. How could I be flaunting it? I think you are mixing the two of us up.”
She growls at me. “You bitch.”
Jordan pulls me back, “Now we don’t need to fight.”
“Let’s leave, please.” I look at Jordan pleadingly. I just don’t want to fight her. I don’t need to fight over nothing.
He smiles and nods to me. “Yeah. This party sucks anyway.”
Kelly smiles her victory smile and we leave.
